Koko, the talking gorilla

This is something that always amazes me when I see it. It's in 8 parts on youtube and is well worth the watch if you've never heard of this gorilla:

http://m.youtube.com/index?&desktop_uri=%2F#/watch?feature=relmfu&v=Pmuu8UEi2ko

Koko, the talking gorilla

You're welcome. The video about Koko taking on the pet kitten and the emotional bond she formed was very touching.
I remember reading about her in a National Geographic back in the day. In that story, she was looking at pictures of the baby albino Gorilla that had just been found. In one of the pictures, the albino was getting a bath and she started signing that he was sad after looking at it.
The whole concept is really fascinating and makes me wonder what else can be done. One thing I do think about, though, is if it is fair to bring the gorilla to the level of a slowed 6 year old, sacrificing it's natural skills, or let it be a gorilla, living as it normally would.

To be honest, we're smarter than it so it doesn't matter. I think it's interesting purely to see how we might condition animals to be happy, INT 5 or so servants. Everyone wins there. Thanks for giving me something to watch on my early day off
