So, needing a project, I have started a guard army (partially inspired by Ailaros and his almighty battle reports). My problem is however, I need a deserty paint scheme to match the board but (being a new to 40k) can't think of a good match. At the moment I have Talahan sand drybrushed with Terminatus stone on the clothes and tried Zandri dust on the armour and helmet but they just look too similar.
Any genius ideas?

It is tough trying to visualise models and colours from one's memory especially with a relatively new paint line.

Looking at the online swatches for the paints you said you have used. I would honestly swap them around. Use the darker Tallarn Sand on the armour plating and then use the lighter Zandri dust on the fatigues.
