Using Hot Glue for placeholding?

Hi all.

I've heard of people using hot glue as a temporary place holder to put bits into place without committing. I'm working on some storm talon conversions and I want to test something without making it permanent. I just wanted to double check that the heat from the glue won't cause the edges to melt and ask if anybody else has experience with using hot glue for this reason.

I have use low heat glue to hold things in place. It works fine if you use a small amount. I wouldnt put the bond where the glue would be hard to remove (cracks and such)

Using Hot Glue for placeholding?

Low-temp hot glue should work (you can use it on styrofoam, if you're careful), but it seems like overkill - poster tack (Blu-tack) does the job just fine, with much less fuss. PVA would also make for an easy to break bond and is relatively painless to clean off, but you have to hold the parts in place while it dries.

Using Hot Glue for placeholding?

Poster tack won't hold up what I'm trying to attach. I'm testing out a wing configuration but the tack isnt strong enough to hold it by itself. I use that pretty often for infantry guys and tried it this but the wing kept coming off.
