Alvin Lee of Ten Years After is gone :(

Farewell to Alvin Lee of Ten Years After, one of the greatest guitarists of all time. The lyrics to their fantastic hit, I'd Love To Change The World, are still all too relevant. I've seen Alvin Lee live a few times and it was always amazing, at 68 he was way too young to go.

Guitarist Alvin Lee of Woodstock fame dies at 68
http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/06/showbiz/obit-alvin-lee/index.html

Ten Years After has many terrific songs with electrifying musicianship, I'd Love To Change The World was the most popular. If you've never checked out their album, Cricklewood Green, I think it's even better than A Space In Time.

Fenrir Kitsune wrote:
Playing a lot of notes very quickly doesn't mean you are a great player. Alvin Lee played well both slowly and quickly and one only has to listen to I'd Love To Change The World to hear it. The acoustic parts are just as well played and brilliant as the electric parts and the slow parts are as evocative as the quick ones. No random flailing there, the notes are chosen carefully.

Another great song by Ten Years After from their Live At The Fillmore album. The now late great Alvin Lee really cuts loose vocally and on guitar in this one, the whole thing is like a rolling freight train. "Take me home, babe!" The studio version is on Cricklewood Green, one of their best albums for my taste.
