Painting 101- Nurgle Daemons (The Great Unwashed, Washed)

As the title says, i thought i would document the painting stages i used for my latest additons to my daemon hordes.

1. Base coat- Mountain Mourn Snow (texture)- crazy? maybe, but i wanted to add additional depth to the model by introducing extra boils to the skin. this was also done straight onto the plastic, no undercoat used.
2. Wash- Anthonian Camoshade- First wash to build the base colour, starting with a brown/green flavour.
3. Wash- Beil-Tann Green- second wash applied to introduce a green into the model.
4. Wash Anthonian- Back over again to dull down the brightness of Beil-Tann.
5. Layers- Kislev Flesh was used to pick out the larger boils over the body without going OTT, Rhinox Hide was used for the Plague sword, with Skrag Brown to highlight the sword and help to give it a rusted effect.
6. Layer- Rakarth Flesh- used for picking out claws, mandibles, eyes and horns. then washed over with Agrax Earthshade.
7. Layer- Abaddon Black- used to pick out the eye pupils.
8. Wash- Crimson (red)- used in the larger open wounds on the bodies.
9. Texture- Sorry can't remember the name- used on the bases, an earthshade wash wash then applied for a grimy sort of feel, and a tuft of dead grass was added to finish.

If anyone has any comments or questions please post and ask.

Now i'm not suggesting for 1 minute this is the best or only way to paint, its not. But hopefully this helped to show how quick and simple painting can be to achieve a respectable finish.

Now the Pics!!!!

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.
Looking good, i'm also doing a nurgle force to go along with my death guard my only comment is that the pink colour for the the flesh looks a little pale/pastely compared with the rest of the model, i imagine its the way you painted it rather than anything else

Young Logan

Re:Painting 101- Nurgle Daemons (The Great Unwashed, Washed)

Thanks for the comments guys.

I see what you mean about the boils painted with kislev flesh. It was intentional on my part as it adds a bright contrast to what in real life is quite a dark and layered skin tone. To tone down I would probably look at something like a watered down earthshade wash just to take the edge off it.
