I am currently working on blood angels. After trying a wash it seems to dirty the model to too deep a red. Also I am going for White arms and shoulders in a 'manga' style.

I've read that some people use these for doing fine line work on models. You can find them in art supply stores.

However, if your wash is making something messy then you're probably using too much.
