Looking for Third Party Model for Flyer Conversion

I want to add some Necron allies to my Tau for air support, but I do not like the aesthetic of the Night/Doom Scythe. So I figured I could find a suitable third party model aircraft that would look similar to what the Tau would field, equip in with Tesla Destructors, and use that for my airforce.

I have since run into a problem. I cannot find any suitable aircraft or gunship models for this conversion. Few modeling companies sell aircraft models, and those that do simply don't make them the right size (40k fliers are huge compared to most model ranges).

Does anyone know where I could find a modeling company that sells models of the correct size?

Thanks.

Correct size to be in scale with the figures would be toys...or other 'heroic' sized miniature companies, of which most avoid larger aircraft. Many toys are chunky though in order to allow children to play with them without breaking them too fast.

1/48 scale is close to the overall dimensions on some...1/72 for some larger aircraft...though those need a lot of work to make them look like the figures can fit inside (coverting a side by side cockpit to single seat or tandem for example).

As far as specific companies go...Fantastic Plastic maintains a list of a large selection of models which are good starting points for this sort of thing.

http://fantastic-plastic.com/gift_shop.htm

Some of the models from movies and shows, as well as some concepts might work with a bit of work. Since you are going off the rails somewhat already, you might consider a design of your own that represents a high tech human ally that counts as Necron but uses GoT models and figures.

That Fantastic Plastic site is awesome!

I propose the Terminator hunter-killer.

http://miksminis.blogspot.co.uk/2009/06/terminator-toys-for-tabletop-gaming.html

They are not in the shops any more but you can try eBay and car boot sales.

1/48 is a good scale for aircraft models for 40K.
In general star wars models from the newer films have some nice looking fliers and other stuff. The task is just to find the right scale.
Here are just some examples. The images are linked to a german shop(i think) but the information given might help to find similar models on local hobby shops.

The last one is not star wars i belive but still nicely looking

Re:Looking for Third Party Model for Flyer Conversion

Here's what the Terminator hunter killer flyer looks like next to 28mm figures.

It's a nice vehicle with moving landing gear and engines and a few good places where weapons could be easily switched out for GW-guns. Also, it has an access hatch to the inside from under the fuselage, so it'd be easy to convert it into an access ramp, or just a chance to do interior detailing if one were so inclined.

It's a couple of years out of print, but you can still find them online sometimes. I bought a couple and have an extra if someone is interested. Shoot me a PM.
