Daemon unit combos

Anyone come up with some good daemon unit combos?

I was thinking of using a Khorne herald on a Blood Throne with the grimoire and Locus of Fury behind a unit of Crushers which in turn have 2 packs of flesh hounds in front of them.
The Herald buffs the Crushers to get a 3++, failing this and they get a minus to their invo the hounds at least grant cover so the crushers still have a 5+, the crushers grant cover to the Throne making it obscured and everyone has rage.
The whole formation is pretty damn fast so I think it will be tough to take out.

Re:Daemon unit combos

These are the combos/tactics/tricks I know of.

Tzeentch Tricks
- Daemons of Tzeentch work well with Grimoire. 4+ cover, but if you Grimoire them, that's a 3++ with a re-roll failed 1's, about a 2++ statistically.
- Roll the 4+ invuln save power on Divination Chart, + Grimoire + Demon of Tzeentch = 2++ w/ re-roll on whole squad.
- Fateweaver with Grimoire means a 35/36 chance of saving
- Fateweaver lets you manipulate the warp storm table, greatly increasing the chances of a 10+ result
- Horrors going to ground behind an ADL for a 35/36 save.
- Horrors hiding behind LoS terrain, showing just 1 horror per turn that does the shooting for the squad.

Nurgle Tricks
- Shrouded is even cooler once you realize that you can use your own models to give you a cover save.
- GUO with biomancy. Very hard to kill HQ -- letting you deny 'slay the warlord' and one objective of your choice.
- Going to ground in area terrain gives a 2+ cover save
- Defensive gernades means you have a 4+ cover for against anyone with 8"

Slaanesh Tricks
- Seekers can bring icons, that you can deep strike other units off of. This lets you precise deep strike.
- Fiends can lower the I of targets, letting your units assault in cover at the same (or better) init vs most foes.
- Assault units behind an ADL to claim the 4+ cover from it.

KhorneTricks
- Man an ADL for a BS 5 gun.
- Skull cannons give gernades to your assaulting troops.
- Kanarak can join bloodletters to give them a 6" scout move, then move to join khorne dogs

I saw a game this weekend where a herald of Khorne on a juggernaut kept boosting the invul on a pack of flesh hounds. That unit was absolutely nasty and hard to kill. It may have just been a situational matchup, but those dogs shook off a ton of wounds.

Its the Grimoire that lets you do that.
I think you will find it in most lists. Its incredibly good.

If you think its awesome with Khorne dogs, try it with tzeentch. That's how fateweaver can get a 35/36 save

Daemon unit combos

I'm having real difficulty seeing past Skarbrand right now, because the combination of Rage and Hatred is utterly devastating when you have cheap, high-initiative infantry.

A Khornate Fury under his influence is 8pts and packs 3 S5 Hatred attacks, plus a HoW impact. Daemonettes or Seekers unlock billions of Rending hits. The best part is Deep-Strike chaining him onto an Icon immediately before the wave of fast stabby bits hits home, so that you are guaranteed at least one turn of murder.

This is also entirely ignoring the fact that he packs 7-9 attacks at WS10 Hatred, Fleshbane and Instant Death.

Slaaneshii Princes are also a surprise hit, in that they work as really stylish anti-aircraft units. Running him through a Vector Strike might plink off a HP< but more importantly puts you into the rear arc for 2D6 S6 shots. If you get lucky on the Vector, you can even split that whip into a second target. Trick shooting at its best.

I am also liking the grimoire on my nurgle allies.

If I get it then they are 3+ invul, if I dont they have a 5+ cover or better.

Great to throw on a soulgrinder of nurgle and just watch the few bullets that can hurt it fly off.

Re:Daemon unit combos

The heralds are the key to all four troops cause you buff them with demonic loci!!! And the odd banner every now and again goes well.
IE- nurgle plague troops 4+ poison shroud t4.. Cool but get a herald with locus of fecundity and a plague banner and now they can do a single 2+ poison in a game (let's face it you only need one if you get the charge on some monsters etc) and feel no pain...
The hardest thing about demons (even admired by the White dwarf team) it's so easy to overspend as for the above example, it's easy to give the herald a gift or two and a plague ridden some extras.. But think about the unit.. You want ur blob to have the cool stuff, the heralds are just there to hold their hands (claws) If you taking a unit to buff (or shield) the character go nuts on him (cough* Tzeench *cough) if you've spent the points on the unit to get ina mass dice ur enemy to death (pretty much every one else... Except khorne has some good heroes)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just remember keep em cheap and focused!! Means more units to target saturate!!

Problem with putting the herald in with the beasts is that they lose their attention seeker rule :(

Oh, and if you're looking for Beasts models, FW plague frogs are a great option (and not much more expensive for 3 than the GW beasts) or appropriately modelled spawn are a cheaper option (just slap on some green stuff).
