I washed one of my models with it, and it barely shaded the model (it only shaded his base that i washed), instead it just made him really, really glossy. I shook it before using it. Did i not shake it enough? You really have to pour on the wash in order to get good results. I've had bad pots before though I can normally tell when I shake and examine the inside contents.

Did you let the paint freeze over or leave its cap opened for a prolonged period of time?

It is water based and if the water were to ice up from the cold then its ruined even if thawed out.
