Also, hell yes to the Awesome. That and the Zeus were my go-to 'Mechs for a long time (can you tell I played a Steiner?).

Like I said... these are for a friend, not mine. I personally can't stand Battletech as a game. Too much like Scan-tron: The Game for my tastes.

Aw man, you are kidding me! Too awesome.

As for Scan-tron - it is not what I think of as a beginner's game and the level of detail in each battle is absurd. It is for those who want a lot more realism in their Sci-Fi Giant Robot games. That being said, I feel you on that.
