Re:Eyes & Mouths!

If your doing space marines then the cheaty way to do the helmets is to paint the lenses( doesn't matter how accurate you are) then clean up the edges with highlights. or if you want glowing eyes (I) slightly water down the paint then apply roughly to the lenses, then wipe away the rest with your finger or a tisue (tisue is more accurate).

Of course, this is for space marines with helmets on so may not be of much help.

I've never managed to paint a mouth well so i wouldn't know

Re:Eyes & Mouths!

For mouths; Paint flesh inside the mouth then use really thinned down scab red(no idea what the current colour is called) and wash over it. You should be left with a reddish mouth. Then drybrush white over the teeth and presto you have a mouth!
Eyes. I always find that it is easier to do them near the end of painting. Get a really fine brush and quickly apply 2 white stripes. Now this is the important bit. Look at the model, where is it looking , what is it doing? The two black dots need to follow this. Make sure that the spacing is the same for both eyes. If you are right handed, do the left eye first, if left handed, do the opposite. That way you'll have more control over painting the eyes.

Re:Eyes & Mouths!

What I do for eyes is first wash black/dark in the socket. This will show the lines better and make an eyeliner. Then I paint white ovals inside the 'eyeliner'. Then I paint the pupils black, but the pupils always have to go from top to bottom with no white on the top or bottom otherwise it doesn't look right to me.

I have tried making two white dots but it never looks right because the pupil never looks round. They look like cat eyes whenever I do it that way.

I've seen someone who got frustrated painting eyes that they just glued googley eyes on their troops.

When painting eyes holding the model upside down allows you to see more of the eye. This makes it far easier to paint the eyes.

Eyes & Mouths!

For eyes I tend to have them looking to one side or another so I only have to deal with proportioning the whites on on side.much easier than straight ahead. For mouths I let wash do the work. And add a little black or brown if the mouth is open.
