Like most people here, I use polystyrene cement on plastics. I mostly always use super glue for anything else. I recently had some super glue bonds fail on magnets, so I'll be switching to epoxy for them from now on. From what people are saying, it seems to be better for the job.

Re:Epoxy vs Super glue

I use Superglue for most stuff and anything that needs to be pinned or I know will have a gap, I use liquid green stuff believe it or not.

I don't use plastic cement, and here's the reason why: If I ever want to dip the model and repaint or re-pose, Superglue will become brittle when dipped in Purple Power or Simple Green long enough, letting me pop off the piece. Plastic cement welds the plastic together, which really, really sucks if you make a mistake which I often do.

I'm not dissing those that use Plastic cement. It's just not for me. If you want it welded together and want it to stay that way, go with Plastic Cement.

Epoxy vs Super glue

I use Epoxy for the following:

*Joining large surfaces. (like a large flat side of resin to another large flat side of resin)
*Attaching gravel to bases. I usually glue down terrain and debris, then paint the base in epoxy, dip in sand and let dry. Strongest hold ever!
*Attaching irregular models to an irregular base. I just went through this with bikes. I paint the bikes off the base, and then I can put a healthy 'glob' on the bottom of each tire and set it on the base. The glob fills in the space in the irregular gravel, dries clear and makes a super sturdy hold.
*I also use Epoxy for some eatter/slime effects. Mix epoxy, add some paint, fill in crater or oozing out of pipe, let dry. Toxic runoff!

Using epoxy for regular models though, Epoxy snaps apart and doesn't really bind to material. It holds well enough but is messy.
