The struggle would depend on the person I guess. An Ork might not even care that he smashes a few grots or some scenery with his new Powerklaw, a Marine or IG officer on the other should quickly learn to switch it off before shaking hands. One short story I recall (terminators receiving blessings and final battle orders before teleporting into battle) even describes one of them checking the magazine on his stormbolter and sliding it back in place with surprising ease and skill, using the switched-off PF of his suit.

One would assume you would have extensive training when you recieved a power fist.

And you wouldn't just walk around with it. You'd only put it on if you were going into combat.

The power field itself can also be turned off, at which point its just a bigger hand with some servos.

Depending on the quality of the fist in question, you could do quite normal things with it. It would stand to reason, however, that they're relatively easy to use; you punch things with it. They're uncommon less so due to high skill requirements, and more due to high costs and difficulty in production.

Theres an IG book out there one of the guys strips a pfist off a dead chaos cultist and just goes to town with it. No training, dude could hardly lift the thing until he turns the powerfield on. Then he drives a truck with it. course this is the IG version which is what, half the size of the marine one?

I supose for an astartes its no different from adjusting to their normal armour.

They had to adapt to that the first time they put it on as it increases their strength to the point they can easily crush bone, bend metal etc.

Therefore a PF isn't as much as a of a step up from a mortal hand.

As for combat I guess their increased strength and high reflex rate plus combat training would cause them to be extra killy pretty fast.
