Basic 1500 Necron List

Relatively new to this site and (compared to the guys I play with) new to Warhammer 40k. I've had a few battles and through trial and error, learned much about Necrons. Here is a basic list that can stand as the "backbone" which can be broken down and easily modified depending who I'm playing against. The main armies my friends play are Blood Angels, Orks, Tau, Grey Knights, Tyranids and lastly the tricky Eldar. Feel free to post your opinions and/or suggestions on what to change in this list to better suit myself versus the different teams I mentioned.

Necon 1500 Pts

HQ:
Necron Overlord (220 pts)
-Sempiternal Weave
-Mind Shackle Scarabs
-Phylactery
-Warscythe
-Catacomb Command Barge as Dedicated Transport
-Exchanging Gauss Cannon for Tesla Cannon

Royal Court:
Cryptek (40 pts)
-Harbinger of Despair (I made a mistake when initially making this list. I thought Nightmare Shroud gave its unit Stealth... )
-Nightmare Shroud
-Cryptek Royal Courting with Immortals

Cryptek (60 pts)
-Harbinger of Despair
-Veil of Darkness
-Cryptek Royal Courting with Deathmarks

Troops:
Warriors x10 (245 pts)
-Ghost Ark as Dedicated Transport

Warriors x10 (245 pts)
-Ghost Ark as Dedicated Transport

Immortals x10 (270 pts)
-Exchanging Gauss Blasters for Tesla Carbines
-Night Scythe as Dedicated Transport

Elites:
Deathmarks x7 (233 pts)
-Night Scythe as Dedicated Transport

Fast Attack: (180 pts)
Heavy Destroyer x3

Total Points: 1493

Feel free to tear apart at your own desire. Main focus is possibly switching Elites and Fast Attack for something more practical depending on what army I am against.

Basic 1500 Necron List

couple of quick thoughts, I'll come back with more when I have time.

You have a lot of points in that Olord. First, if you plan to stay in that CCB you are wasting points with SW. The +1 you get to your save from the CCB give you a 2+ already. I also see the Phylactery as iffy as an upgrade. Most of the time, if what your fighting killed you to begin with, it will still be there when you get back up. (if you get back up)

Can't say I am a fan of nightmare shroud either, I barely get to use MSS and that is a 3d6 roll, I can't say that I have with any success got many units to faile a morale test. With that said, I would use quite a few other things with the immortals than a base despairtek. The template weapon is only useful when mixed with DMs and HfH.

Basic 1500 Necron List

I assume you are working within models you have as there are no real counter assault units here (eg wraiths) so couple of comments based on models you have.

If you put the deathmarks into a Night scythe, you can free up the points for the veil because you won't use it as the NS will keep you mobile.

Rather than a despairtek for the immortals, use a lightningTek. This will give you the haywire which is better against vehicles but also provide (some) deterrent if assaulted.

+1 to Roci's comments on overlord.

I'm assuming that you are going for a mech build which is why you have the two ghost arks.

However If you have any more immortal or other models, I'd be inclined to drop a Ghost ark and just use one to support the two squads of warriors.

In terms of swtiching, depends on the models you have!
