Need advice on highlights

Looking good so far, i like darker dark angels - the highlights on the armour are not over the top and not too thick.

I agree with thinning your paints, that silver is a little too thick .

Also give the model a black wash on the metallic sections (i cant tell if you have on the armour as the pictures are a little dark) - it will help break up the silver and give some depth to the model which will in turn compliment the highlights!

edit: woo my 100th post!

I agree - the highlights look pretty clean and not too heavy. I might say you want something a smidge brighter, but I think that's the photo/lighting.

Need advice on highlights

With edge highlighting there are generally two tips that I start out giving.

1 - during construction of the model, make sure you keep your 'main' edges crisp. This makes it much easier to pick them out later.

2 - Use a size 2 brush. A lot of people start out by trying to use a tiny brush because they see that edge highlights are thin and delicate. The problem is this actually make is much harder work as the paint dries on the brush much quicker. Using the tip of a larger brush is, perhaps counter intuitively, much easier.

With that said, in the main they are looking good in your photos and you can always go back with your base colour and tidy them up

Need advice on highlights

The main weaknesses I see here are model prep and the metallic work - the armor highlights are rather nicely sized and smooth. Brightness/color is a matter of personal preference, but the application itself doesn't scream "needs improvement." You're doing just fine.

Need advice on highlights

My advice is to not bother with highlights. Paint your models simply, apply a wash, and then play more games.
