Airbrush Overspray

I am seeking to purchase my first airbrush soon and I have a concern with overspray. Since most of the paints I will be using are water based, will there be overspray similar to volatile based paints (like aerosols)? I have a nice area set up in my home and would like to spray in the house. My significant other is concerned that I will be coating my house in overspray like the time I left the garage door open and had dragon red army painter primer overspray drift into the house... Any info or reassurance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Todd

Airbrush Overspray

The spray coming from the airbrush is much finer and more controlled than that of a spraycan. There are a number of options for spray booths with filters and fans to capture and filter out any overspray and potential fumes (depending on the thinner/paint being used) but based on many videos I've seen, folks just spray at their desks with paper/carboard laid down to catch the spray.

I myself use a spray booth connected to the outside though I know it's overkill. You could always just set up a box on it's side to catch any potential spray, something I do in the garage when I use aerosols myself.

Re:Airbrush Overspray

Yeah I have seen videos but was always curious if something else was going on off camera to catch the paint. I have a large window for light and ventilation right by my paint desk. I feel better now having asked the question. No one in my gaming group uses an airbrush (or paints their models for that matter lol). I'm glad there is an online community for answers!
