I happened to have a almost unused Deldar wych sprue and a bunch of 6year old Guardians lying around and wondered what good could this misplaced sprue and the worthless space elf poets do for my Eldar army...

Then out of a sudden I came up with an idea of a squad of female Avengers. Why Avengers? Because my new found Army of space elves was lacking of good troops and the guardians really couldn't fill that role at all.

So I took the poor space poets, gathered them together and started chopping off their legs and heads for their new purpose. And boy it felt good. Finally seeing those poor things being of purpose. I felt like a freaking Bloody Handed God himself when one of them shattered into gazillion pieces under the strain of my wire cutters!
And so was born the name: Maidens Of Khaine...

The general idea is to create a 8 man..woman squad of Avengers wielding catapult and direswords. Going to add some sort of furs on their shoulders and a BIG bulky shoulderplate(s) with a pointy thingy sticking out of it(?) as a dedication to their savage deity.

This is what I have accomplished so far. Don't mind the crappy colors they are not there to stay. Being sucky at the field of battle wasn't the only downside of my old guardians

So here is the Exarch for these ladies. Not sure if I'm quite satisfied with her yet but for now she will do as she is.

PS: The base came with the guardians and does not represent the final product at all!

Umm, you mean those 2 pointy things on her back? On both sides of the banner.

If so, they are part of the old guardian box. I agree, also just noticed the cape on the exarch as well, looks so cool.
P.S. Are you just going to paint them in the regulation dire avenger colours, or another colour, if so I would steer clear of whites, yellows and other light colours for them.

Thanks The cape is actually taken from my FB marauder kit. Looks a bit loose but makes it look a bit more barbaric I think.

The color scheme ah... they are all base coated now so I think it would be good time to decide that, no?
I've never been into those shiny glittering rainbow colours you usually see on eldar so Im going to stay away from bright colours with these ladies, aswell as my whole "yet to be finished" eldar army.

What I planned so far is to paint their wargear in dark bronze/goldish (not sure if that would be fluffy? They are wraithbone afterall... but who cares) and the cloth parts such the cloaks I'll paint in dark red. Trying to make them look a bit like spartans! I want them to look like warriors dedicated to the god of war not some jesters jumpin around in yellow jumpsuits swinging sparkling candycanes (nothing wrong with those I do like them harlequins!).

Ok thanks, also, if I were you I would paint them as normal dire avengers, just to tie the models back to the eldar so they do not get mistaken for kabalites. However, the gold sounds good, you could make them really ostentatious with heaps of it just make sure that they are predominantly blue, however I would like to see the Exarch's cape painted like 'eavy metal painted Vulkan He'Stan's cape. Red could work on the cloth though. And I agree about not wanting them to look like hippies twirling candy canes

Alright done some basic painting on the models.. still trying to find the colours Im looking for but this is how they look so far:

And so I did.. too bad I ain't very good with freehand painting but I got to say this might look pretty fancy on finished models. So! Think I'm going to make some "fiery"(or just.. yellowish) runes and markings to decorate some parts of their armor.

Quickly checking out the result I ended with the following. The helmet might be just too much..

I really like how these are turning out, they're definitely going to stick out from other Eldar, in a good way. The only problem I have is that they're washed very dark, and it almost makes them look like statues rather than soldiers. I would go over them again and highlight/touch up with a lighter gold to push the shadows more into just the seams of the armor. I would also suggest adding lighter colored accents to them. The red/gold is great, but adding something like light blue eye lenses or bone colored accents would really make them pop. Maybe making the fur white based would work? Thanks for the tips! The model is far from finished. So fear not. Im working on lightening the armor but the good thing about hard wash is that it keeps those nasty flaws with GS hidden in the dark places

Good advice on the white fur! Think I'll try to make it grey/white like those seen on cyberwolves. And the various symbols and trinkets they carry on their belts I'll paint to resemble bone or something similar.

Uhm.. again a double post but Ive been working on the furs and think im gonna need some advice

So this is what I did.. the lighting makes it look way more white than it really is:


It looks a bit too white I think and Im not really sure how to make it.. less "shiny"(?) Maybe to highlight some of the fur areas with some gray perhaps.

Here is also a pic which shows the haircolor I did for the ladies. Pretty sure Im going to stick with this:

Haven't had time to work around these ladies with studies and work flooding from all corners but now I finally got something to update. So, I finally figured out how I wanna paint these models and this is what I did with a single model!
This gal is finished and waiting for the whole war party!

Not sure if the "rusty" looking shuriken catapult is fluffy tho but thats how it ended up! And dont mind the oddly stupid grin on her face.. not very good at painting faces yet


And from the back.. if you're wondering what on earth is that thing hanging from her cloak.. I have no idea! Too bad I chose this "oddball" model to be the first complete one


A closeup on the base. Snowy and bloody with a BA backbag buried in snow. This GW snow flock looks a bit goofy but didnt find any other alternatives for snow.


And a blurred closeup on the Diresword. You can also see the rust on the catapult from this position pretty well. Still not covinced that wraithbone would actually rust at all but guess the rust fetish can't be helped
