Every time I try painting one I feel like I'm washing out the colors to much in an attempt to make it look rusty and gross, but it turns out looking like a mess (in my opinion). Is there an easier way to paint Plague Marines without having this happen?

For rust, go for a dark red-brown as base, then sponge orange on. It works wonders and looks great.

For gross, do blood/slime and use gloss varnish.

for rusty parts, I am partial to using brown ink or pigment to get the rust effect...brown ink is easiest, just make sure you're controlling where it goes.]]> http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/preList/521128/5509617.page http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/preList/521128/5509617.page GMT
Prime grey (although any colour would probably be fine)
Basecoat Nurgling Green
Drybrush ushabti bone
Drybrush white (very light)
Paint any metal areas as normal
Wash everything with a 1:1 mix of Agrax Earthshade and Serephim Sepia

Here is my rust technique: I paint the model in whatever natural colour
then wash brown
then drybrush silver and wash brown
then drybrush brown
then drybrush/stipple brown and orang mix
then lightly stipple orange

I used boltgun metal, mournfang brown, blazing orang and gryphonne sepia wash. Hope this helps
