I want your opinions on a DE color scheme!

Hello all.

Finally getting around to starting up a DE army (who I wanted to play from the start, but for some reason didn't...).

I plan on priming them black and edge highlighting with this color:

http://www.wampstore.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=578

It's actually a little brighter than that when not on a PC swatch. It's probably in the same range as Hawk Turqoise (maybe a little darker) for brightness. I think this color will give it that old school classic Tron green that I'm going for.

The question is, should I do the first edge highlights with that color, or mix a little bit of VMC Black Green into it to darken it, then second highlight w/ pure VMC Emerald, and then do a final edge highlight of VMC Emerald mixed with a little bit of VMC Pale Sand?

OR

Start straight from VMC Emerald, second edge h/l VMC Emerald:VMC Pale Sand 2:1, then final edge 1:1? Whatcha think?

I'm not familiar with VMC, but I did the main outline of mine with Hawk Turquoise and used a Thraka Green wash to blend it. If you paint the turquoise on thinly, there's no need to darken it if your basecoat is black (or at least, there wasn't on mine).

It looks a lot more blue than green in this picture, I'm waiting until I finish to take a good one.

Edit: By thinly, I mean I thinned it down with water a bit.

Did you only do 1 edge h/l of Hawk Turqoise or are you going to do a second brighter h/l? Looks great btw!

I base coated with Krylon matte black primer, then I thinned down my turquoise a little with water. I went over all the edges, then washed it with Thraka Green. I took some normal turquoise and went over the higher points, then mixed a little Space Wolves Grey with the turquoise and hit the highest points (around the cockpit, the nose, the corners). Then I took normal black paint and just cleaned it up so that the lines were thin and straight. The black paint is a little more glossy than the primer, but I'm going to spray some Testors Dullcote on it and it should be fine.

The edge highlighting is finished in the picture I posted. I should be able to post some pictures of the completed model tonight.

Ah k, great thanks.

So you mixed in Space Wolves Grey, a very pastel almost white color. I've been doing the same, basically - adding Pale Sand (a yellowish off white) to the Emerald, and I was concerned about it maybe being overkill.

Thanks for the reply, that actually helps me alot!
