Tablewar cases vs. Battlefoam Magna Stacker system

Anyone have experience with these. I have a number of Tau vehicles and Tyranid monsterous creatures that I need to get cases for. Looking at the Battlefoam system (already have one of their bags), this option is pretty expensive. At $180, it seems that the Tablewar case, with the adjustable trays, gives me a fair amount of flexibility on how I organize my carrying case. Most of my figures are already magnetized, so the Magna Stacker system is interesting, except that you cannot adjust the height between trays. Any advice or input out that you all can share?

NOTE, I only travel by car. I don't see myself flying with figures and if I do so, it would be a single army, which I can already accomodate.

If you only travel by car, you might consider the TableWar case. But I will say this- it is HEAVY. I owned one and have actually switched over to bags again because I carry a lot of metal (trollbloods). I actually would consider the half-size TableWar case more attractive for this reason, but then again, that may defeat the purpose of being able to hold large models.

Re:Tablewar cases vs. Battlefoam Magna Stacker system

I love Table War's cases and own two full-sized cases and one half-sized case.

I will repeat what RiTides said, they get heavy! I have a metal Guard army and when a full-sized case is filled up it can easily weigh 20+ pounds.

But, with my other plastic armies the cases aren't bad to lug around. My only issue with them is they make transporting vehicles difficult since there aren't any easy ways to mount vehicles to the trays. For infantry models, however, the cases are a dream and make removal and clean up a snap. I love the modular trays, and the ease of dropping figures into their assigned tray slots instead of having to deal with foam cutout cubbies is worth the lack of vehicle options to me.

Plus if you have multiple armies the versatility of the magnetized Table War trays really beats custom cut or pre-plucked foam trays that have a harder time accommodating multiple figure layouts. If you expand your armies over time like I do that versatility of the Table War trays beats out foam every time since you don't need to worry about a foam layout not conforming to the latest additions of your army.

All in all I am a fan of the Table War system. As long as you acknowledge the cases' limitations (air travel, lack of easy vehicle storage) then you'll be very happy with your purchase.

I have my Chaos Forgefiend and Daemon Prince magnetized and they fit easily on the trays. Vehicles are harder. Since the Tau vehicles use flying bases you can carefully drill out an area on the flight base for a magnet but it takes a lot of work. My buddy has a Dark Eldar hellion heavy list and he has magnetized all of the Hellions' flight bases for storage in his Table War case so I know it can be done if you are willing to put the time and effort into the task. But, the Tau vehicles are heavier than individual helion infantry models, so I can't entirely vouch for magnetizing the vehicle flight bases.

Table War suggests putting a pin on the bottom of ground vehicles and then pinning the vehicle to a flat tray. I don't like the idea of drilling into my vehicles for transportation purposes, so I never attempted to keep my vehicles in a Table War case.

Really, with the trays currently available from Table War, I can't recommend the cases for vehicle transport. :(

With those skimmers, the base size doesn't really matter - measurements are taken to the hull, not the tiny, hardly visible disc underneath if I'm not mistaken (sorry, might not have played as much as I used to since 6th came around ) and even if that's not the case, PP style bases in 50mm exist so you can always find one of the more 'regular' kind of black bases to put a flight stand on. Once you've done that, you can basically just smack a tonne of epoxy glue into the underneath of the base and fill the whole damn thing up with magnets. maybe some milliput over them to fill it up and make it look nice and tidy, if you're a neat freak in that regard - five minutes to a base, tops. get some of the aluminum flight stand pins from ebay (really, beats the hell out of those fragile transparent plastic fethers!) and glue the whole thing together, and you're golden

...Hope that helps

Thanks all. For the purposes of driving, one doesn't need a ton of magnets inside the base and for space reasons, I would be easier to remove figures from the flight stands anways. With the Devilfish/variants, it's easy enough to drop a magnet into the landing pads.
