Be aware that they DO have their own codex, and you might like their playstyle. There's several legions of Space Marines that have their own codexes and it might be worth your while to find out of you like one of the more specialized flavors. The first thing you want, even before you buy models, is the main rulebook and the codex for the group you are interest in. The newest starter set is a great way to get a bunch of really good marines for cheap, AND you get the rulebook with it. You can always sell the models you don't want, if you're not interested in chaos.
