This was speculation from a random Word Bearer and the author of the novel has repeatedly denied the veracity of the idea.

Every organ grows from a zygote, and a progenoid gland contains one zygote for each organ.

When a new chapter is founded, the Mechanicum select a single zygote for each organ (enough to make one marine) and reproduce that set of zygotes to make enough for a whole chapter.

This is all the article says on where a chapter's gene seed comes from. You could decide that means using a larraman's organ zygote from an Invaders marine and a melanochrome organ from a Minotaur, etcetera.
