Mono-Khorne 1500 list

Hey all, I was wondering if you had any advice for a Mono-Khorne list. I know it isn't optimal to essentially be dropping 75% of a Codex but I thought I'd give it a go as it looks like fun.

The list below is a version of what I've been playing around with. I sort of feel like the footslogging Bloodletters may be rather useless but my attempts to make a list where I've taken a minimum squad of Bloodcrushers with an Icon for safe deepstriking seemed like a waste of points.
Maybe 3 BL squads might be a bit much given I could take another 10 Flesh Hound squad for the cost but the extra scoring squad may be more useful.

And on the lack of AA, really my local meta has very few flyers which is why I've gone done this route. Otherwise I'd be looking at Soulgrinders or more Flying Monstrous Creatures.

I'd say this list looks quite good. You could always DS the bloodletters close to or even behind enemy lines (I always do). Personally, I wouldn't use skull cannons but that's just because I dislike the model and not it's rules. I use soul grinders as my main pie plate thrower which gives me a little AA as a bonus.

Re:Mono-Khorne 1500 list

i would rather have 3 heralds with 1 loci each then have 1 super buff herald, so this way your squads benifit form the loci as well, if you cant afford it then go loci of rage one then

your bloodreaper is not all that great i would just remove it exept for point filler

flesh hounds are always good

in my opinon soul grinders are better, but skull cannons are cheaper, either way its down to you what you choose

so your bloodthirster if it gets a crappy gift then give it its blade of blood one that gives it rampage, witch is really good on him scince he is 1 model probably charging 10+ units or crushing tanks and just does what every you want it to

you should have 3 heralds with loci of your choosing and thats it

no blood reaper and should deepstrike with herald with the squad near them

flesh hounds and skull cannon should start on the bored and charge

the problem with this list is that its squishy very very squishy, that and if your blood letters fail to come on the bord soon then you will loose

Re:Mono-Khorne 1500 list

As you have mentioned, the list lacks AA, which is a problem of the codex itself, not just mono-khorne.

I would not just rely on one herald for your buffs, as khorne heralds are very fragile when not in a squad. I also do not think a single MC is enough, either play a DP with him or drop the heralds for another BT, in my opinion two MCs is almost enough, most of the time.
The bloodletters die too fast, in my opinion, so I run them one of two ways, 10 man with no upgrades to run around and just eat bullets/hold objectives, or 16 man(fluffy) with banner of blood and bloodreaper with lesser reward. I love the bloodreaper option, but YMMV.
Another fun option is the herald on juggernaught attached to the flesh hounds. I give mine a lesser reward for the AP2 axe that strikes at initiative. He is pricy, but increases the number of threats you have turn 1/2 because he can split from the squad and will eat a unit champion in a challenge, most likely keeping him safe from shooting death after he charges.

In the end, play around with the options, mono-khorne can be fun but it has plenty of rough matchups, most especially the new tau. I love soul grinders, but find my lists rely way too much on them for AA, AT, and AI, leaving scoring to my bloodletters. If bloodletters did not die so easily, they might be better, but even a few can still hurt a squad, especially marines.

From another mono-khorne player. good luck, have fun, and BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
