Back in the day, they were a very, very elite army -- the basic troops were 90 points apiece plus equipment, and the higher level heroes were 235 plus gear and psychic powers. Obviously, points costs have come down since then, but you get the idea.

At any rate, I would like to figure out what army would make the best proxies for elite hand to hand psychers, non monstrous creatures/vehicles, with 9 models.

I'm pretty much assuming that the GK route would be best, but I am interested in other suggestions!

(Looking to be enjoyably playable for TAC at FLGS, does not need to be tournament strength.)

I think the picture I saw was in the 6th ed rule book I'll check.it out when I finish work. The has been rumors of an allies supplement rule for awhile now. So they might bring out some actual rules soon enough.
