Tau Sunshark conversion

I thought i'd share a little experiment in changing the aesthetics of the new Tau bomber.

Whilst I don't the model as made by GW is particularly bad, I wanted to see what was possible to bring it more in line with the devilfish chassis and existing tau aesthetics.

The engine pods are the ones from the fighter version drones. I used parts from the rear of a burst cannon to build up points in which to mount them. At the moment they are just blu-tacked on but will be fitted with magnets. I thought the missile pods were the worst part of the original design so these are now mounted under the wings, again with magnets. Not ideal in terms of gameplay according to the rules but they can be reversed to fire backwards. I'm sure logical players can just pretend they are mounted in the original point for line of sight/range etc.

The bomb generator and drone guns are not yet been attached.

This model is for sale if anyone is interested, as I built it purely from a desire to experiment.

Re:Tau Sunshark conversion

Here are pics showing the tail and engine pod mounting:

Using the burst cannon parts to create the reinforcing requires a sharp knife, patience and accuracy. I have tilted the mountings as you can see from the rear shot. Similar in profile to the design of the devilfish engines. I think the rest is pretty self explantory. If you attempt this, just make sure you line things up and make sure the holes for the magents are drilled perpendicular to the mountings. Because of the magnets, the pods are posable, which i reckon is pretty neat.
