Recessed scenic movement trays or display bases?

Hi,

I'm looking for display bases for 1 AND more figures, mainly WH40k but also FB if possible. I want them to be scenic ones with recesses so I can easily add and change figures. Balin's Tomb for LOTR (http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/Models%20for%20sale/Lord%20of%20the%20rings/Fellowship/IMGP5532.jpg) is an excellent example of what I'd like.

I've been going through the resin bases links but I still can't find anything good. Anywhere I can buy this kind of stuff? I don't want to do it myself. What do you use?

Thanks!

Recessed scenic movement trays or display bases?

If I'm not mistaken, GW does round-base recessed trays for LotR. Not sure of the model count, though, and I believe they have a plain finish.

Honestly, most people I've seen using them have made their own, using a layer of 1/8" (~3mm) MDF for the top (thin foamcore is a viable alternative, but it's hard to cut round holes cleanly with a knife). Holes for round bases can be cut out using a hole saw, or strips can be laid out to form the recesses for square bases. Either way, you'd be left to do the finishing, as you would with any standard base/terrain board.

That said, I'm sure someone sells something pre-made, somewhere. In fact, I'm sure I've at least seen single-model sockets sold with a recess, allowing the model to be removed for play. I'll let others weigh in on that front, though, as I've never actively searched for them, myself.
