Here is my completed Realm of Battle board. I did snow as I love the look of snowy places. The terrain was made to match. I have one more piece that didn't get photographed - a fountain/pool with a marble statue of Eisenhorn in the middle. I have been basing my Dark Angels to match the board as well.

Pretty well, it's quite sturdy. That being said, it will be damaged if you drag a tank across it or something... I also don't roll dice on it as the impact (I use 16mm) could be rough. Instead you can see my wooden dice boxes for rolling on the end of the table.

Yup you're right on. It's just the Woodland Scenics "soft flake snow." Good stuff! It's held in place with their scenic cement as well. I write a more in depth tutorial if you want.

Thanks! The statue is protected from rust by the emprah.

Thanks! The ice was a bit of a pain but I really like the effect - plus it's level for models to stand on.

Thanks! It shouldn't yellow as its legit snow flock. Typically that problem is encountered when using baking powder and pva glue. Since the wind has clearly blown the snow away from some rock ridges, there should be some drifts. I would just flock some low, rounded ridges and that way you could position them wherever you wanted on the board. Hey thanks! I specifically did not add snow drifts for two reasons. Main one being that it adds significant difficulty when playing on the board. Models don't stand up well or fall over, as you mentioned you might need special rules for them, and it restricts where you can place the terrain. The other reason being that it would be rather difficult to pull off while looking realistic, and ultimately not worth it for a game board (ie not a display board).

Thanks! I actually have been basing my army to match! I'll post some pics here soon. However, I may switch the theme (base-wise) of my army, which may lead me to sell this board and the associated terrain.
