Advice for assembling Death Korp needed.

I've been out of the 40k scene for a good ten years now but decided to get back into it. I've got a squad of Death Korp infantry to start me off. Now my quandary is how best to assemble/paint.

Am I best off assembling the model completely before painting, or keeping everything on the sprue then assemble after it's painted? I'm leaning towards the later.

My main concern though is the spacing between arm/torso where Green Stuff might be needed. Or are the joins pretty seamless?

I'm also interested in creating a mud and stone effect base. Any good guides on this (I've yet to see any tutorials on this), and again, another noobb question, but am I better off glueing the model to the base before this or after?

P.S first post so please be kind

Take bits of the sprue, attatch them to some thing like some Popsicle sticks then paint. You can also check if they fit together right before putting them on the sticks

Let me know how it goes, I got a squad on it's way to me too!

You need to take them off the sprue because you're probably going to need to straighten some warped parts, and cutting resin parts off the sprue without damaging the paint is probably impossible.

As for the fit, it varies. The ones I've assembled exactly according to the directions have been a pretty good fit, but some of the arm swaps have had slight gaps between the arm and body. I decided that the gaps were less of a problem than the spots that would be difficult or impossible to reach with a paintbrush if I assembled them before painting and filled the gaps, but it's up to you whether you agree or not.

Ive found with DKOK paint it all seperate and then glue toghether, apart from a slight warp on the arm of a heavy bolter gunner i have been lucky with mine and found the arms and bodies are a genrally good fit.

though the cables on the grenadiers hellguns is a pain in the butt, need a steady hand and a good pair of twezers.
