sticky resin??

I picked up a new forgeworld model and it's sticky.

Typically, I clean all resin stuff washing it in warm soapy (dawn) water, scrubbing it with an old electric toothbrush, and then rinse and let dry. I did that, thinking the stickyness was to do with a release agent (although, a sticky release agent doesn't make a lot of sense, now that I think about it). Left it on an old towel to dry, and it's still sticky, so much so that all the lint came up off the towel when I picked it up.

So then I gave it a bath in some simple green, but a couple of hours soaking and more scrubbing and the surface is still sticky.

Any ideas what is causing this, or how to resolve it?

You have to cure resin. Warm up the model up to 60 degrees (Cessius) for one hour. You may left it on the sun. It should help.

sounds like the resin wasnt mixed properly or they measured wrong or they yanked it out way before it finished curing.

could also be more toxic in this semi cured state, i'm not sure.

you should probably get a replacement.

I stuck it in the oven for 30 mins at 170F/76C, No real change in texture, though its pretty bendy. (I expected that).

Still sticky though.

I'll give it a few days to see if anything else changes, otherwise, I think you're right, I may need to call them.

In my experience, badly mixed resin which had the wrong ratio of ingredients may "weep" for some time. My badly cured models eventually cured themselves, and I was able to use them.

I would not accept it from a professional outfit, though. You should contact Forge World.
