Black librarys new Munitorum E-books

Just a bit curious. Has anyone bought and read any of these short e-books? They don't cost much so I did, but I don't really know what to think of them.
The Shuriken catapult was ok. Nothing really new but pretty nicely put together. The Long rifle was better with some background material I've never heard of before, which sounded nice. The banshee mask was a disaster with nothing new and they didn't even include the wargear rules. The last one, the Maugetar, was written with a lot more background material. It tells the story of how Maugan-Ra himself crafted it... too bad the story feels extremely weird and unfitting for Eldar. It reminds of how Mat ward writes fluff -.-
...seriously? An infinity circuit on a crone world? awaking an avatar by force with an exarch on a crone world? It's ok to kill an exarch and stab your god of war but NOT ok to kill mad and corrupt seers? And what's with the captured bone singer? that entire part was so weird and wrong that it feels outright silly... and since when does harlequins really care about what a phoenixlord thinks of their plays?
...just... what?

So, on the plus side: Nice, easily affordable and cool books!
on the down side: Not nearly enough time spent to make sure the books are consistently good and with fluff that simply doesn't fit in at all with current background material! (I'm looking at you skull-face!)

but that's what I thought of them. It would be cool to hear what you think =)
Cheers!

I do not get the sense that many people have gone for these e-books given the suspicion they are just reprints or copy/paste of old information.

You'll have to give a more in depth summary or review of what this Maugan-Ra story is about as I doubt there will be many others that know what you are referring to otherwise.

Black librarys new Munitorum E-books

Ah, sorry about that.
The story covers how Maugan-Ra travels with a group of his best disciples to an eldar crone world in order to get three ingredients to make the Maugetar: a blade tempered in the blood of a god, black wraith bone and spirit stones containing dead seers.
He finds the crone worlds infinity circuit. Still containing eldar souls, guarded by a keeper of secrets who consumes the souls one at a time. Maugan-Ra & co. kills it, get some black wraith bone and then Maugan-Ra and a single exarch continue the journey. They find a dormant avatar which Maugan awakens by sacrificing the exarch. Then he fights the avatar and stabs it in the heart, thereby tempering the blade. Then he sends the avatar to play with the demons on the planet.
Now he travels down under the planets surface, and find a bunch of mad seers, which he kills and take their stones.
Then he travels to a craft world. Kidnaps their best bonesinger and forcer him to teach how to bonesing stuff.
Now he sings the black wraith bone into a shuriken cannon, ataches the blade and powers it with the stones. Then he taker the bonesingers hands (so he can't make a weapon better than the Maugetar), eyes (so he can't see a better weapon) and tounge (so he cant speak of it)
And that is the story the harlequins tell. But they aparently need Maugan-Ra's permission.

Phew. Long post on a tiny phone

Re:Black librarys new Munitorum E-books

First off, the thing about crone worlds and infinity circuits is a contradiction with what is said in the Iyanden supplement which says that Iyanden pioneered the use of infinity circuits as final repositories for souls (though it could be interpreted that infinity circuits already existed and Iyanden just found a new use for them).

Second, the rest of that described Maugan-Ra behavior sounds more like the selfish, jealous and egotistical actions of a Chaos champion. This is at odds with his ultimately successful quest to save Altansar, which sounds like an act of altruism.

couldn't agree more.
Also: Cutting of the hands, tounge and blinding a psycher? what good would that really do to stop a psycher in his craft? And to stop him from making better weapons... for Maugan-Ras own people?
Crone worlds are, IIRC, the old Eldar worlds that were caught in the eye of terror during the fall. At that time there was no need for spirit stones or infinity circuits. A dead eldars soul would go to the warp to await when he or she would be reborn again.
...and why, oh why, do GW always use avatars as their punching bags -.-

I can accept the hive fleets as being beaten time and time again. If they weren't beaten then it'd be game over galaxy. Restart game?
But not by a single individual... Not even Maugan-Ra... who can beat avatars in one on one combat... his own war god he's supposed to represent an aspect of...
sigh...

Oh. also: Do NOT link me to Tvtropes.org! There's a certain risk I won't be doing anything else for the rest of the day if I go there
