2000 points of Necrons - need to shave off some points, pointers appreciated!

I'm playing in a 40k campaign this summer (2000 points) and am thinking of expanding my Necrons for it. (The other option is expanding my Eldar, but there's already an Eldar/Dark Eldar combo in the campaign, and I think I'd like to try something unique.) Before I buy the last few pieces, I thought I'd put together a rough list. However, when I calculated points, this comes to 2,375... So, any suggestions on which models I would be best off dropping? Or am I missing something useful? (I haven't actually played any games with the force). I realised I don't enjoy playing gunline armies that much so want something which will do ok in the assault phase. There are a good mix of other armies in the campaign, and people generally have a wide range of models from their army's Codex available to choose from.

The rough tactics are that the C'tan, Wraiths, and Scarabs (who will be expanded by the Spyders) will move up quickly to assault anything they can take on, while tough enemy melee stuff will get shot up (with Deathmarks and the Triarch Stalker, with the rest of the force assisting). The Doomsday Ark is there to attract fire, and potentially blow stuff up (e.g. Terminators/vehicles). The Destroyers are to be a rapid mobile threat, good at killing Marine-equivalents, and the Destroyer Lord will hang out with them and also mince people in melee.

The Night Scythes will carry the units of 5 Immortals and drop them on objectives, and also shoot up enemy flyers. The other unit of Immortals with Tesla carbines will again be a mobile threat, with the Cryptek letting them jump about as needed and again claim/contest objectives.

No Necron Warriors in the list as I don't really like the models that much (partially due to the plastic rods, which will be replaced by something else on my Destroyers). So, on to the list itself:

HQ	215	1 Necron Overlord: Tesseract Labyrinth, Tachyon Arrow, Resurrection Orb, Phase Shifter
HQ	190	1 Destroyer Lord: Sempiternal Weave, Mindshackle Scarabs, Resurrection Orb
HQ	70	1 Cryptek: Harbinger of Despair, Nightmare Shroud, Veil of Darkness
Elites	275	1 C'tan Time's Arrow, Gaze of Death
Elites	150	1 Triarch Stalker
Elites	95	5 Deathmarks
Troops	170	10 Immortals: Tesla carbines
Troops	185	5 Immortals in Night Scythe
Troops	185	5 Immortals in Night Scythe
Fast	240	6 Canoptek Wraiths: 3 have whip coils
Fast	75	5 Scarabs
Fast	200	5 Destroyers
Heavy	175	1 Doomsday Ark
Heavy	150	2 Canoptek Spyders: Twin-linked particle beamers

If no options are mentioned, the model has standard gear (e.g. the Overlord has a Staff of Light.) As mentioned, thoughts on which 375 points to shave off, or what to use instead, would be welcomed. I am a bit worried I've gone overboard on wargear for the Overlord, since the intention is to keep him out of melee. Dropping the Labyrinth and Phase shifter would save 65 points.

Right, as mentioned in my previous post dropping some wargear from the Overlord would save 65 points. As it is presently 375 points over, that'd still leave 310 more points to cut somewhere. I'd consider the Triarch Stalker and Doomsday Ark (which would do it) but am worried then I wouldn't have so much to take out 2+ save units or monstrous creatures at range.

Hmm, I was hoping the C'tan would be a good fire magnet and counter for tough enemy melee units.

I think I'll drop all wargear except the Resurrection Orb from the Overlord, which brings the list to 2,280 points.

Any other suggestions? I will think on it a bit longer. Maybe I should just bring my Eldar instead, which I have a list I feel more at home with.

The Ctan is really quite slow, whereas the bulk of the rest of your force will be comparatively fast - I'd pick that.
c) If you have the models, I would ditch the doomsday ark and get another spyder and some more scarabs to start.
Thanks for the additional comments, guys. I will think about it some more.

I'm going for something reasonably well set up to take all-comers, but I am not worried about it being super-optimised. It's more for fun and to include things I think look cool; my group are not super-competitive. Maybe that's why it feels like a 'collection of models'. I am just really hoping there aren't glaring holes in my force composition.

Our codex has other things that are good too, not just these 3 units. Not everyone wants to run the spam list, especially since I doubt this is meant to be super competitive. Just frustrates me when this is the only thing people offer as advice is the exclusive spam of the undercosted units in our codex instead of taking OP's thoughts into play. We have a strong codex. I know we do, I do well with things like AV13 spam with heavy destroyer support. Sorry, not lashing out at you specifically wuestenfux, just an overall statement.

Sorry for the small rant OP. For your list, yes you do have a collection of models, yet I think that you can optimize it a little more, just to give it a little more synergy. Given what you have, this is what I might run (assuming you can get more Immortals)

HQ:
O. Lord + Warscythe + MSS + Semp Weave + Res Orb

Royal Court:
Cryptek w/ Abyssal Staff

Elites:
C'Tan + Pyreshards + Transdimentional Thunderbolt
5x Deathmarks
Triarch Stalker w/ Heavy Gauss Cannon

Troops:
(3x) 10x Tesla Immortals (O. Lord would go here)
6x Tesla Immortals

Fast Attack:
5x Destroyers
6x Wraiths (Naked)

Heavy:

Doomsday Ark

total: 1,992

The C'tan is more shooty to optimize him a little better. As awesome as a beatstick MC is he doesn't need those super expensive powers to be good in combat. With the ability to smash he has a good chance of taking down most things that aren't either T6 or that have EW.At least this way, he can pick off some wounds while he walks forward, as well as thin out hordes so he doesn't get tarpitted forever. The stalker has a HGC because this allows him to stay safe and paint whatever you need dead, which is why all your immortals are tesla. Tesla benefits from TL much more than most weapons because of their special rule. This will also make your DDA more accurate and able to provide that long range fire support (although if you can part with them, I might drop the DMs or C'tan for another DDA. I'm a firm believer in 2s of something as the first will not always get the job done). The main thing I'm worried about with this list is anti-tank. Most of it will be short ranged with exception of the DDA and to some extent the HGC. I might even trade out the destroyers for heavies that way you can at least stand a better chance of taking out AV 13-14. I've also personally taken to leaving Wraiths naked. I've found that often times the WC just haven't worked out as effectively for me as it may for most people. The only things that will generally give these things trouble in melee are things that are T8 or higher, in which most cases you will be going first (at least against PF, and such. In an MC heavy meta, I can see the reason for the WC). Of course, all of this is from experience/observation so YMMV. Hope this helps though.

Re:2000 points of Necrons - need to shave off some points, pointers appreciated!

An alternative take on a list using the models you have (hopefully):

Zandrekh
HoDespair, Veil
Destroyer Lord (SW, MSS)

Shard (Moulder, Transdimensional Thunderbolt)
Stalker
5xDeathmarks (Veiltek here)

10x Tesla Immortal (Zandrekh here)
5 x Immortal (Night Scythe)
5 x Immortal (Night Scythe)

5 x Scarabs
3 x Heavy Destroyers (2 Heavy)
5x Wraiths (2 Coils)

2x Spyder
(1995)

The above list is very similar to the ones presented, but I have gone down the path of ditching the Doomsday Ark instead. Again, shooty style CTan, but now backed up with a couple more MC in the Spyders. Scarabs and wraiths now for your AT/AI, and the inclusion of Zandrekh means that you can give army wide buffs. I wasn't sure whether you were allowed named characters, so if you aren't switch him for a normal overlord. However, keep him if you can because Scarabs with furious charge are a nightmare - that +1S makes them much more deadly. I don't think you should have a problem proxying your existing overlord (as you only have one).

In place of the Doomsday Ark I opted for Heavy destroyers. Again, not sure if you have the model, but if you don't maybe you can proxy or alternatively ditch them and put the Doomsday Ark back.

hth.
