Finecast model with bendy staff

I have an Eldar spirit seer in finecast that has a bent staff. It has been suggested to me that if you dip the staff in a bowl of boiling water and then gently bending the staff back to being straight.

Has anyone tried this? If so did it work?

Finecast model with bendy staff

If you're not averse to a little cutting and drilling I would recommend cutting the 'important' bits off (staff tops/bottoms/etc) and replacing the actual 'shaft' of the spear with some brass or other metal/plasticard rod. This way the staff will be much sturdier, and far less likely to bend in the future (although it takes a bit more time and effort).

I won't describe how to do it, as there are hundreds of tutorials on how to do this sort of thing on the internet that can explain it far better than I can

Finecast model with bendy staff

I recently fixed a warped TFC by dipping it in hot water (just from the tap, but as hot as it gets) and then cold (had a few ice cubes) and it worked fine. Now, I just needed to get it close enough that the glue would hold the model together, but the technique does work.

I did just snap the head off an metal farseer's staff accidentally while cleaning flash, so breakage is not just a finecast issue.

Finecast model with bendy staff

I left my unprimed or painted broodlord in direct sunlight for a few very hot days (not on purpose) and he sagged a bit so i can see the heat thing working

I would just replace it with something sturdier like mentioned earlier because it will probably get bent again from use or travel
