Moderately Priced Paint Sets?

I've almost always used craft paints, in and out of an airbrush. I'm happy with the results I get, but I've come to realize how much more clean up and maintenance work is involved as opposed to when I use the couple bottles of VMA I have. So, I've learned my lesson and am hunting for a set of better paints. I've used VMA, and it's ok. A little thinner than I'd like I think, but I could get used to it. It's available locally so replenishing would be super easy. I'm also interested in Minitaire. Looking into the sets, it seems $250 +/- is what full sets go for. I'd love to grab one, but can't justify that purchase all in one go unfortunately.

Can anyone recommend a smaller set that maybe could be supplemented as needed? I'm not set on pre-thinned paints, just want ones geared more for airbrushing. I know Vallejo has a lot of sets, primarily for scale modeling. I'm just not sure what to get. Thanks in advance!

For minitaire go to http://www.webairbrushes.com/ and enter CONSORTIUM or any number of other coupon codes and you get 40% off the set. Makes it around 180$ which isnt bad at all for 80 paints. The bottles are also larger than the standard miniature paints such as VMA. To top it off I hear they makes good brush paints as well. The other option would be to use the 40% code and just buy the individual paints you want and make your own set.
