We’re back out at Fanatix of Dothan for another Evil Lair Wargaming Bat Rep! This past July 4th holiday weekend was spent showing our boys in uniform a good time. Our good friend and longtime Evil Lair member Jeff and our new friend…other Jeff…were treated to a weekend of beer, good food, 40k, and fruity frozen tropical drinks! Because that’s what guys from the west coast drink, right?

*Ding Ding Ding* Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, it is now time for our main event of the evening! Tonight is a tale as old as time itself. A classic battle fought for the sake of humanity between the forces of good and evil.


In the Red Corner it is the Fabricator General himself, lover of baseball, ramen noodles, and Japanese women: William the Betrayer!

Inquisition Turn 1:
Jeff’s Librarian casts Prescience on a Tac Squad and the Inquisition squad shuffles up 2 inches in their cover. The Dreadnaught fires its lascannon and immobilizes the rhino closest to the building. The prescience squad fires its krak missile into the center Rhino and blows it up.



The remaining tac squads fire their missiles but fail to hit due to cover. First Blood goes the Inquisition! 2-0.

Plague Fleet Turn 1:
The undamaged Rhino moves up into the ruins while a group of Plague Marines get out of their immobilized Rhino. Very little moving from the Nurgle side, as is usually the case. Willie then checks his range for the Defiler…



…and he’s got it. Defiler fires and vaporizes two death cult cultists. Obliterators fire plasma at a squad of Tac Marines killing one. The other Obliterators fire plasma at the Prescience squad. They hit the deck but still take two casualties. The squad breaks and run 11 inches down from the fourth floor to the first.



Inquisition Turn 2:
A Grey Knight Strike Squad and the Callidus Assassin arrive from reserve. The Strike Squad deep strikes into the ruins in the back left while the Assassin goes after the disembarked Plague Marines.




Plague Marines take one ap1 hit from the Assassin but he fails to wound. Prescience is cast on the Tac Squad on the balcony. The Callidus Assassin kills two Plague Marines with his flamer template. All the missiles from the Tac Squads fire at the Rhino in the ruins but only manage to take a hull point. The Dreadnaught however saves face as he lines up his lascannon and explodes the elusive Rhino.



Inquisition leads 3-0.

Plague Fleet Turn 2:



The Texas A&M fight song plays as Johnny Manziel takes the field! Johnny Manziel and his Plague Marines move up further into the ruins. Defi loads a pie plate in the oven but his cooking skills are nothing compared to Jeff’s as he misses completely. Obliterators fire lascannons into the Dreadnaught causing a catastrophic explosion.



Plague Marines in the back field rapid fire into the would be assassin ending his career short. Johnny Manziel’s squad fires into the Veteran Squad erasing the two bolter carriers. Inquisition still leads 3-2.

Inquisition Turn 3:
The remaining Strike squad deep strikes into the ruins with Johnny Manziel, one being impaled on arrival by the spiky bits of the gothic scenery. The other Strike Squad and the Veterans move up to flank Johnny Manziel and his Plague Marines.



The Strike Squads fire their incinerators, storm bolters, and psycannons into Johnny Manziel’s Plague Marine Squad taking out 5. The Tac Squads fire their missiles at the immobilized rhino but only manage to take a hull point leaving with it one remaining. The Strike Squad assaults Johnny Manziel’s squad.

“Bring me your best!” Johnny shouts as the squad charges in. The Justicar steps forward, “You have charged with heresy on 3 counts! Heresy by thought, heresy by word, heresy by deeds, and heresy by acts…4 counts! How do you plead?” Johnny stands confused for a moment before asking “You been talking to my ex-girlfriend?” The Justicar attacks but is slain effortlessly while the plague marines slay another Grey Knight while taking no casualties.

Plague Fleet Turn 3:
Defi scoots over 6” and the Rob squad runs out of cover. Defi lands his shot but only manages to kill one marine on the balcony. Obliterators fire plasma at the Veteran squad removing them from existence. Plague Marines in the ruins rapid-fire into the Strike Squad killing 5 and their own Plasma Gunner.



“This is no normal Chaos marine,” one of the Grey Knights remarks about Johnny Manziel. “I think it’s time we bring out our secret weapon. Bring forth the soft cushions!”

Grey Knights charge forth armed with their mighty couch cushions ferociously poking at the plague marines with them. “This doesn’t seem to be working, sir!” one exclaims as Johnny skewers two Grey Knights with his lightning claw. The Grey Knights attempt a tactical retreat but the Plague Marines cut them off at the pass. Game is tied 3-3.

Inquisition Turn 4:
Prescience is failed to cast but forewarning succeeds on the two man Tac Squad as they run out of the church to intercept the Rob Squad. The Inquisitor and the Cultists move forward out of the crater toward the Chaos Lord. The 5 man Strike Squad regroups and moves join their brethren in combat.



A missile finally finishes off the last Rhino while the other missiles take out two members of the Rob Squad. The Inquisitor and Servitors open fire taking out a Plague Marine in the ruins while the Strike Squad joins the combat with Johnny Manziel.


Johnny Challenges the Justicar from this group as well. “I am not like my brethren,” he says as he walks toward the Chaos Lord. “I have with me one of the most fearsome weapons in the Grey Knight arsenal. Bring forth the Comfy Chair!” Johnny walks over and sits down in the plush chair propping his feet up on the ottoman. He pops open a nice cold beer and motions with his power fist toward the Justicar. A plague marine walks over and stabs the Justicar in the back while the rest of the Strike Squad are finished off.



Game is tied at 4-4.

Plague Fleet Turn 4:
Plague Marines continue marching forward and the Rob Squad fires and kills one member of the two man squad.



Defi fires and misses the Cultist squad and the Plague Marines in the Ruins join combat with Johnny Manziel.



Out of secret weapons the Grey Knights lose combat by 2 and make a tactical retreat. Game is still tied at 4-4.

Inquisition Turn 5:
Jeff pops his collar and the Banner Squad moves out of the church for their photo-shoot.



The Strike Squad continues to retreat past the Inquisitor. “Get back into the fight you cowards!” he yells as they run by. “But Sir, none of our secret weapons had any effect on him,” they replied.
“Did you bring forth the comfy chair?”
“He seemed to enjoy it.”
“This is no normal minion of Chaos. Villainy of this magnitude has not been seen in millennia.”
Dark Angels in the ruins fire at the Rob Squad taking 3 more. The Inquisitor moves forward and kills a melta gunner with his storm bolter.



4-4 going into the bottom of the fifth.

Plague Fleet Turn 5:
Rob Squad moves into the ruins for cover.



Plague Marines in the Ruin move forward ready to meet the Inquisitor. Defi scoots over to get LOS. Obliterators fire assault cannons into the lone Dark Angel. He put up a valiant fight but goes down in the end. Willie picks up his World Champions Florida Marlins Teal dice and the second Obliterator squad fires their plasmas but both get hot and explode in their faces. I have World Champions Florida Marlins Teal dice as well. I use them for my leadership dice because they roll as well as the Marlins play. Ass poor if you were wondering. Defi fires a pie plate killing one of the retreating Grey Knights and two Cultists. The Plague Marines all rapid fire into the Inquisitor, two cultists jump in front of him to take the hits but one lucky shot still gets through to end his reign of terror.



Game ends with a score of 6-4 in favor of Chaos while the Dark Angels remain in their church praying to the Emprah.

I apologize for not getting this up sooner but you know, the steam summer sale happened and I suddenly got really busy. I mean Portal 2 was $5, you just don’t turn down a deal like that. Anyways, hope you enjoyed another Evil Lair Battle Report, until next time. Cheat to win!
