				<title>Nids with Mawlocs?... Really?... Yup.</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ <br /> here is a list that is gonna hopefully be too tough for the opponent to deal with and everyone comes via deepstrike, flanking or just flying really fast in the opponents face. <br /> <br /> 285  1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / 2x <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(126);'>TL</span> Devourer BLW / Hive Commander<br /> 260  1x Hive Tyrant / Wings / 2x <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(126);'>TL</span> Devourer BLW<br /> <br /> 50    10x Termagaunts<br /> 255  1x Tervigon / Regeneration / CClaws / <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(130);'>TS</span> / Catalyst / Onslaught (Biomancy)<br /> <br /> 220 3x Zoanthrope - Mycetic Spore<br /> 220 3x Zoanthrope - Mycetic Spore<br /> 130 1x Doom of Malantai - Mycetic Spore<br /> <br /> 240 1x Trygon Prime <br /> 170 1x Mawloc<br /> 170 1x Mawloc<br /> <br /> <br /> I went with Zoanthropes since they do the mycetic spore thing well and the opponent wont be able to insta kill them since all his Str8+ Weapons are gonna be needed to fight all the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(93);'>MC</span> on the board. also they are quite versatile in big teams since I can choose spells from the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(13);'>BRB</span>.<br /> <br /> The Doom of Malantai will, as always, be a priority target for the big weapons to insta kill him but so much stuff should die on turn 2 with 2 big teams of Zoanthropes, 2 charging Flyrants, the Doom, 2 Mawlocs doing their terror from the deep thing, and even the Trygon Prime and Tervigon shoot a bit so its gonna be hard for him to waste alot of shots on the Doom to take him off the board, even if he still has enough left to do that hes only gonna shave off 90 pts from my list and the whats left of my army is staring down at him in a mean way.<br /> <br /> I chose 2 Mawlocs since they are a cheap way to have 6 toughness 6 wounds with a 3+ ArSv coming out of nowhere in the oppononets face, and since they also do good damage on turn 2 (I do really whish they had a breath weapon or two tho)  (Trygons have a bit of a hard time doing too much damage on turn 2), then, if i need to they can go back underground again or maybe charge something to tie it up if needed.  <br /> <br /> with everything I had 30 pts left and decided to give regeneration on the Tervigon, I hope that I would be doing too much damage to the opponent and he would have too much high priority targets for him to take the Tervigon out in one turn which means that he should be able to try to regenerate.  I know im light on troops but I can only flank one Tervigon and no other Troops have T6 which I am trying to maximize on. <br /> Actually maybe this list could actually make the Nid Warriors be actually worthwhile, keep them in a Mycetic Spore to keep up with the army and maybe equip them only with boneswords or even keep them naked. being as their main weakness is vulnerability to str8+ shot maybe they could do good here. I could free up enough points for 4x warriors with boneswords in a mycetic spore by taking out a Zoanthrop in each team, taking out the regeneration and the prime upgrade on the Trygon and the onslaught upgrade on the Tervigon.<br /> <br /> what do you guys think?    <br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Regeneration on the Prime may be 30 points.. I'd double check. Your Tervigon is 5 points too expensive. If the first is true then your list is good to go, if not buy another gaunt!<br /> <br /> Solid list. I'd love to run this if I had the models.<br /> <br /> I'd like to see you run the warriors with boneswords - more models!<br /> <br /> 2 Zoanthropes should be able to do whatever job you need done.<br /> <br /> The Tervigon can make pretty much anything on biomancy useful and 2 rolls will land you something fun.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I like it.  Very difficult list for an opponent to handle.  You wouldn't even need to attempt to use the Mawloc TFTD more than once.  Then, once they arrive you can get into melee.  Against most opponents who castle they'll work great!]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Interceptor is used at the end of your movement phase so you can draw fire it makes no difference the order you bring your models in.<br /> <br /> As for <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>ID</span> requiring psychic tests it depends on the army. Grey Knights can take a banner meaning they don't have to test...<br /> <br /> In casual play this will cause people issues. Interceptor will hurt whilst mechdar will just laugh and fly away. Your <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(93);'>MCs</span> won't do as much damage as you expect turn 2 and if you're going 2nd one of your Flyrants at least will be dead by then.<br /> <br /> Top tier armies will not be phased by this. But it is a decent build and about as good as you can get with Nids these days.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I'd drop the second unit of Zoanthropes. As much as I love them, I don't think that six is necessary, especially with the Doom in tow. Perhaps a unit of 2 and a unit of 1 as an alternate setup.<br /> <br /> With the points you've saved, I'd try and squeeze in another Tervigon (and obviously 10 Termagants with it to make it Troop), just because in the not unlikely event of you rolling a double on your Tervigon in Turn 1, you're not completely screwed over as far as Troop Units go.]]></description>

If that spore lands within 6" of something that's an extra 6 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>str</span> 6 shots at BS2 on top of the 12 from the fex.<br /> <br /> Tactics wise, Castle everything up behind cover and drop your spores on turn 2 before you drop the Mawlocs so you can force enemy units to die if they have no choice but to scatter into spores. Basically, try to drop spores in their face versuses maximizing the Zoanthropes lance/shriek range.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Why the trygon prime, why not save the points and take another mawlec or just a trygon (yeah I know more shots, but really will it do that much for the points and that way he can not be challenged as a prime can.  Who cares about synapse with them anyway, there thing is to feed so they will attack a close target in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>cc</span>, that is what they will do anyway.<br /> I like Mawlecs (they are cheap and though not as good in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>cc</span> are a pain that the enemy player has to deal with)<br /> I like zoeys but with deny the witch it sucks, I like the idea of three in a pod, I would maybe consider a squad of hive guard to march up the field and shoot the crap out of things and deny cover which IS a big deal in this game...<br /> Cheers and good luck, cool list]]></description>

It also greatly increases your chances of not wiping the enemy in the first round of assault. Basically it increases the targets you can go after and reduces the rounds of shooting you have to face. Which you seem to think is a disadvantage and I can't fathom why.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ When I run a similar list I run it as a more of a hammer and anvil still list. I have 2 flyrants, 2 tervs and their neccesary gangs, 2 x 7 ymgarls, doom in a pod. Then  trip mawlocs. I will sometimes swap out one of the flyrants for swarmlord and a tyrant guard. Swarmlord works really well with the foot element of the list, and helps with the controlling of your reserves. ]]></description>

It makes his Mawlocs useless, and also prevents the Doom from getting two turns of Spirit Leech (during which time the Doom gets ALL the Psyfleman fire and dies to Str8 from a single failed save).<br /> <br /> So my question is, what are you going to do when my entire army is within a Warp Quake bubble, and you can't use your AP2 blasts or Spirit Leech?]]></description>

So the Mawloc doesn't get the blast hit!<br /> And if the Mawloc rolls the "opponent places the model" result, then I put the Mawloc within 12" of Coteaz, whose entire twin-linked unit (16 Str5 bolter shots, 8 Str7 Rending shots) gets a free round of shooting (in your movement phase) against the thing!<br /> I'm not sure how it can make things "disappear," unless you mean that "models that can't be moved are destroyed"; but I've never actually seen that happen, since it's pretty impossible to find no space to move the models.<br /> <br /> But, if no one plays <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(305);'>GK</span> in your area, then you're fine!]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ when you place the large blast marker for the terror from the deep attack, any models who survive the str6 ap2 blast need to get moved out of the way of it but right beside it, if there isnt any place for them to fit (due to terrain or troops(his or mine)) right arrround it then it just gets removed from play forever. seem relatively easy to position it so a large model wouldnt fit right arround it. thus its insta-killed <img src="/s/i/a/c944477abc92c1c101da485e07ff06d8.gif" border="0"><br /> <br />  <br />   ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I run 2 mawlocs, an outflanking squad of warriors (from Hive Tyrant hive commander skill) and a doom in a pod, they usually all arrive turn 2, mawlocs auto arrive, doom and warriors on a 2+ (again from hive commander).<br /> <br /> They dont usually die in turn 3 so you can either charge or reburrow and terror from the deep again turn 4.<br /> <br /> I have managed to take out entire squads with mawlocs before, they are very good if they have support.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I just have to pull out the lictor first and the Mawlocs last, lictors will come out on a 2+ so its a safe enough bet that they will be able to come out before the mawlocs, then the mawlocs come in with the lack of scatter.<br /> I would go for deathleaper but i cant find the extra 10 pts to choose him over 2 lictors. but yeah the deathleaper would be nice enough with his overload of funky abilities. <br /> I cant believe how expensive they are points-wise, they should have a free power weapon and a 4+ ArSv for that cost if you ask me and still people wouldnt really use them to much given how popular the elite slot is for Nids. <br /> <br /> <br /> <span style="font-size: 9px; line-height: normal;">Automatically Appended Next Post:</span><br /> also anyhting the needs to deepstrike (like mycetic spores) dont count in the 50% starting on the board rule so ya, its legal to start with only the 2 flyrant and mawlocs]]></description>

The +1 to reserve roll requires the lictor to have been on the board for the full turn but the scatterring avoiding rule is a seperate sentence, so can be used if he deepstriked that turn.   <br /> ]]></description>

				<title>Nids with Mawlocs?... Really?... Yup.</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ The reason I chose Warriors is twofold.<br /> first, this list is all about making the opponent have a really hard time choosing where to send his Str8+ shots and the warriors fill this role well since their major weakness is their vulnerability to Str8+ shots, (also keeping them as cheap as possible to avoid it costing me too much if he does end up choosing to shoot the wariors with strong shots).<br /> everything in this list (Gaunts are the exception) are either really tough (T6 or more) or T4 with multiple wounds. so the opponent needs to choose with care where to send those shots.<br /> <br /> the second reason is because Warriors are scoring dudes that can Deepstrike, Deepstrike being the key thing here since I want to have more bodies to throw arround the board to surround the opponent so that when the Mawlocs come out, the opponent has no place to go and just plain dissapears for my convenience. It still wouldn't be a bad idea to take them.. Place them after the spores but before the mawlocs and fill in any "gaps" strategically so they scatter into the lictors.. think about it.. 9 lictors on 40 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>mm</span> bases ANYWHERE you want (prime real estate). Spore drop a ton of warriors maybe and there you go, a ton of cheap 3w bodies that require all the s8 attention. The lictors rules are amazing if they survive turn 2, which, in that case you can either have rotating mawlocs (I'd take 3 in this case): burrow 2 turn 1 and burrow 1 turn 2. Do you see what I'm getting at here? ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ @ Zaak<br /> <br /> I do see what your going for with the mass lictors but Zoan and Doom can do the same only WAYYYYY better. the mycetic spores are bigger thus more ground covered and the zoan/Doom are on the same bases as the lictors so the ground covered that the opponent cant get pushed to is about the same, sure the turn 3 you get more precision on the no scatering from next mawlocs comming out of the ground but I expect the game to be already mostly done at that point and alot less people to be on the board so not nearly as potentially powerfull for the 3rd turn.<br /> the doomd and Zoan are so much stronger and more usefull, and cheaper and tougher and hit harder and more versatile .... god im so pissed at lictors right now....<br /> sorry about this Dakka<br />  ]]></description>

Lictors have a slight positioning advantage being that it's a guarantee you get to place them whereever but you're right 2 x 40mm and 1 x 60mm take up more room. Also, I can't see myself letting go of doom in a list like this. I really like the idea of warriors though.. I want to see if I can make 9 of them useful in a similar list. The only critique I would suggest is swapping <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>cc</span> for a second <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(444);'>hc</span> just incase he gets shot down turn 1 or 2.. insurance <img src="/s/i/a/c944477abc92c1c101da485e07ff06d8.gif" border="0">]]></description>
