Any sugestions on tying them in? I want to paint them differently to stand out but would want them to still tie in as looking like they fit.

I will base them the same as my army.

Personally I think I would prefer my Mercs to stand out as Mercs so I would just use basing to tie them in. Basing goes a huge way - as has been said before. However, given that they are mercenaries, you don't want them to fit in too much - they should look distinct.
