(Dark) Eldar Names ...

As a player I like to make a little bit of a back drop for my army to make it more entertaining for my opponent and myself by giving people and units names. I have been hitting a dead spot with figuring out names for Dark Eldar and Eldar; I am wondering if anyone has a idea of where Games Workshop gets their names from. If there is a specific type of culture, since they aren't as forth coming as the Space Marine chapters that are based off different cultures through time, ie Ultramarines being Romans.

(Dark) Eldar Names ...

with dark eldar use lots of y's, h's and k's. Make them sound like weird guttural name. With eldar just think elves, make them sound majestic and mysterious. I have trouble naming those races as well when i field them (i ALWAYS name all my hq's), especially DE

(Dark) Eldar Names ...

Sky's the limit. Just go with what sounds good, there aren't really any hard rules for naming them. And think about how many different kinds of names there are among humans...stands to reason that aliens would be similar.

For example, with Eldar you have names like Eldrad, which could have come from LOTR, but on the other hand you have Fuegan, which is presumably based on the Spanish "fuego."

The post above mine is good advice. Dark Eldar tend to have harsh or sibilant names, sometimes even punning on English words (Lady Malys). As for Craftworld Eldar I think if all else fails anything that sounds suitably Tolkienian is good.
