The show has already altered or added a lot of the scenes to give him far more prominence in Daenerys arc in ASOS than he does. Strong Belwas has more dialogue and presence than Daario in ASOS to put it in perspective; but he was a cut character.

I personally have an inkling that, much like Shae, the developers will portray Daario in a much more positive light than he is in the novels.

BTW I must stress that I am only looking at the shows portrayal. The show also doesn't have nearly as much time to build slowly into things like the books can.
She does end up going all super-hormone "OMG!-it's-Bieber!!1!!!" over Daario by the end of book 3, so the show has just decided to 'get on with it' since it will have huge ramifications in the next season!

Now while the series hasn't brought in the prophecy of the 'Three Betrayals', it is important to note that Daario is almost certainly the 'Betrayal of Love' that Dany was warned about by the red-masked priestess in Quarth.
For the show, this means it important to emphasise Dany's immaturity and her somewhat childish instant love-crush on Daario because they probably only have like 1-2 hours worth of screen time (if even that) to tell Dany's story each season.


As for the other other two betrayals, (Betrayal of Blood & Betrayal of Gold), we still haven't really had 100% proof she's met those yet as the first could be one of 3 people, while the latter was likely Jorah, but could also be one or more of the players in the Mereen arc...

Jorah's main problems are;
a) He's butt-fugly in the books! Like seriously nasty... I mean, I guess if you run him over with a lawnmower and then finish up with some serious shaving you might find a decent-looking guy underneath all that man-fur of his.

b) Dany is super confused over who he's a surrogate for - her older brother Rheagar or her father.
She tends to lean toward seeing Jorah as a surrogate for Rheagar, but gets rather distracted by her own insecurities & immaturity. In the second book she actually tries to imagine getting it on with Jorah, (but his face keeps turning into Drogo's as she's still grieving his loss), and then she actually kinda really likes it when he plants a kiss on her in book 3, but gets all embaressed & pissy about how "a knights shouldn't do that to his queen." (but she still really, really enjoyed it!)

Yeah I didn't get why the TV series took the kiss scene out.

Well, given the age difference I really doubt he would live to be with Dany. The only ways its gonna end for him are...

-Dies serving her with his love unreciprocated. Dany realizes shes lost somebody very important and has another feel sad moment. A simple way out but I just don't think it would end that way.

-Not long after they get together he is killed. He could even get her pregnant before this.

-Dany dies and hes left on his own. If he got her pregnant this could leave him having to raise the kids as Dany could die in childbirth. Incidentally, not only is this how Danys mother died but its also what happened to Jorahs first wife. Possibly a bit of foreshadowing there.

-He moves on with another woman. I personally am convinced it could be his ex-wife Lynesse. Season 4, Episode 9 is my guess where we'll get this happening.
Keep in mind that Iain Glen is one of the main actors they were after when they first pitched/cast the series, thus dragging Dany's story out a bit means they keep him active & secured on the payroll instead of leaving him off for a season or more and potentially entangled in another project/s.

Jorah's story is pretty awesome up until the 'taken as a slave' bit and finding out Dany has been married off already... The initial bits between him & Tyrion are quite entertaining since Tyrion is so adept at pushing his buttons, which tends to end with Jorah planting his fist in the dwarf's face.
I started to hate it once they get sold off and Penny comes more into play - really hoping they drop her character as she's just annoying as monkey crap on a stick

Good news though is that DB Wiess & Dave Benioff have hinted at changing up that section of the story to be a little more action-oriented than it is in the book. (something about maybe Iain Glen vs a bear?!)

There's also the possibility that Jorah might be one of the dragon riders as well...

The Dragon Rider thing won't happen with him. Only Targaryans ride dragons, and he's not one of them. There are three dragons, and three Targ's. Doesn't get much clearer then that.

Except that you can never take things at face value in ASoI&F...
There's actually every chance that Young Agen could very well be the 'Betrayal of Blood' Dany's been warned she'll meet.

On the other hand, Dany rides the dragon who's colourings match her house sigil. She's got gold & green dragons left and two loyal companions who just so happen to have house sigils that each match the colourings of one of the remaining dragons...
