I would like suggestions on how to do this with a minimum of loss and spillage. I am not asking if (insert paint brand) is better and I should have bought them in the first place.

I am thinking on this:
1. fill the remaining space in the bottle with my flowaid mix. Shake pot.
2. pour paint into new bottle.
3. fill pot again with distilled watter
4. shake
5. pour into new bottle
6. shake new bottle

this should result in about 24 ml of well thinned paint.

I would indeed use a good acrylic medium, which you should be able to get at an art/craft supply store for not too much cash.

Also, I would consider trying to get (or cut one) a small spatula or scraper, for getting the paint out of the source pot.

With BRAND NEW Citadel paints, I was able to get a good final result without it being thinned too much. On older pots, it took considerably more flow-aid rinses to get all the usable paint out, so my paint needs more shaking before I can use it, and then I have to add acrylic medium to get a good flow.

Ok so I got it in the dropper bottles and I am happy with the results. Here is what I did.

1. added medium until paint was at bottom of mouth of pot
2. shook vigorously
3. emptied into dropper bottle
4. repeat 1-3 with half of the pot filled
5. add flow aid. half the pot
6. shake vigorously
7. pour into bottle.
8. shake bottle to mix paint and flow aid

test consistency and put into drawer for later...
