So what do you think? Both seem like a fun list (the 1000 point is an expansion on the 500 point list), lots of dice to roll and that's why i'm getting into 40k...

One with a Kustom Force Field and a 5++ is 95 points, and go be put in the middle of a blob of Shoota Boyz to protect them. Speaking of Shoota Boyz, I think sinking 90 points into a single unit at such a low-point list is wasteful. 15 boyz with Shootas is only 90 points, and if you replace on with a Nob using the weapons you mentioned, it's 125 points. I usually don't like Nobz in my Shoota squads, however, because a Nob can't really be kitted out to support the squad well.

So, with a Shoota squad of 15 and a KFF Big Mek, that's only 185 points. Put in a squad of assault Boyz with a Nob for 125 points, and you're at 310 points. So what can you do with 190 points?

-You can always take more Boyz. An assault squad will leave you 60 points, and a Shoota squad will leave you 100.
-Looted Wagons ROCK. With a Boomgun and an 'Ard Case, it only costs 120 points and will wreck several days with 70 points left to spare.
-Lootas. 'nuff said. 5 will run you 75 points with 115 left over, while 10 will cost 150 points and leave 40.

Other options:

-You can always take two Shoota squads if you wish, and leave 225 points free.
-Warbikers with a Warboss instead of a Big Mek.
-Put the Big Mek with some grots and give him a Shokk Attack Gun. Watch the hate fly.

Grab yourself a kff big mek and 10 gretchin and you have a very versatile 500 point list.

@ 1000 pts for a TAC list you can have 3 squads of 30 boys w/ nob, choppa for about 195 each.
