Imperial Guard Beastmen,

Hi,
I'm looking at doing an imperial guard beastmen army, using the Elysian list in IA 8, and elements of IA 1 (mainly the tanks and the artillery). Having decided that I actually want to do this army (regularly have these ideas and then they never come into life), I have been hit by a series of questions and mental blocks. Therefore I thought i would ask people on here for their opinions and advice. The issues are:

1. I am going to be combining the beastigor kit with catachan weapon arms ( am passing the catachan bodies onto a friend of mine to strengthen his guard). This in theory will work but I was wondering if anyone had actually done this on here? Further to the theory is the idea that bestigor models with a little adjustment can be made into stormtroopers (based on the fact that they have more armour than standard gors, this could represent the difference between carapace and flack armour).

2. Now on to the more asthetic problems, firstly which lasguns should I use? The catachan arms are like space marine arms (pre new tactical box) with a cupped hand to rest the gun on and a trigger hand. This gives me the option to use the short catachan lasguns, scavenge from my guard spares cadian lasguns, and some of those lasguns with folding stocks, or to buy the forge world elysian or death korps lasgun pack.Aalternatively is a mix of all of them, on a squad to squad basis, or on a deployment basis.

3. Having done the hobby for a little while, I have based armies in urban theatres, desert theatres, polar theatres and more recently the ash waste theatre, the night world and the volcanic theatre. I am at a total loss with what to for this armies bases. I am not a big fan of forest armies (had a bad experience with lichen and a wood elf force) but other than that am open to suggestions.

4. Finally the colours i will use for them. I tend to go for the exotic ( a throwback to my purple eldar) or the earthy ( see Knights of Sycorax on here). I also now practice non metallic silver and gunmetal colour but am not capable of the non metallic gold at this time. I am not a big fan of the blue armies or the green armies and i never really subscribe to the colours on the boxes so any option is on the table.

I have some sample army lists of over 2000 points and will upload them later on if people want to see them. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Zillythealien

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I forgot to say that the army will contain death korp heavy mortars, death korp mortars with beastmen crew ( a friend again just wants the bodies) and death korp leman russes (or mars alpha hull with ryza turret leman russes from forge world)
