should i downgrade my Mbps?

Hi, i'm doubting because i'm no internetwizard like others. I'm now paying around 75€/month for internet (120Mbps, phone and tv), now there's a new provider that asks 39€/month for the same, except the internet is only 30Mbps, and for 48€/month i have 50Mbps with the new provider (all include phone and tv).

The only things i do online is browsing, occasionally downloading and playing World of tanks/ World of Warplanes online..
What should i do, stay with my 120Mbps internet or downgrade to a cheaper pack?

Well, with your current provider you are getting 1.6Mbps per 1 euro whereas the 48 euro for 50Mbps gets you 1.042 Mbps per 1 euro. If all you are doing is playing World of Tanks and similar games, and not doing constant large capacity downloads, the 48 euro plan isn't too bad of a deal.

Depends on what you use your internet for.
If you are a heavy online gamer, or stream lots of videos, you will want higher bandwith and should go with the more expensive plan.

If you are really only watching the odd video, playing the odd game here and there and browsing forums and the like, than you don't need a lot of bandwith and should go with the cheaper plans.

You're paying how much?!

I have 16mb internet and I play mmos and counterstrike occasionally. Perfectly good latency - around 40-50 something like that. Download speeds are also perfectly acceptable.

You're throwing money away if your usage is like you say.

You can watch video on demand on a download speed of about 15Mbps.

The other thing to consider is upload speed.

Lots of people are on ADSL where the download speed can be OK but the upload speed is rubbish. Of course if you don't need to upload stuff that will not be a problem.

Latency is caused by the speed of light and the number of servers the packets have to go through. Up/Download speed doesn't really matter.

I pay $65 USD for a 20Mbps connection, which is plenty unless I'm spamming torrent downloads all at once(which is rare).

If anything Data "limits" are far more of a concern. My current plan is 250GB up/down, and I have passed that limit every month this year(after I pass it my bandwidth is halved until the next billing cycle).

Data limits are rarely disclosed up front when you sign for service(I didn't know I had a limit until I passed it and they emailed me).

If you have several people sharing your connection, then more bandwidth would see a performance boost. If it's just you, then 20-30Mbps is plenty, even if you game online religiously.

I currently pay for a 20Mbps Fiber connection at my place.... At any given time, I'll have up to 2 computers, my playstation, phones/kindle on the same network with no real issues... this is just the standard file updates/downloads type stuff, nothing overly heavy.

If you are living alone, or even if you have a roommate/GF/BF/spouse, 20 Meg connections should be pretty good for everyday use.

The OP's avatar leads me to believe that there is some considerable movie downloading that was not mentioned in the original statement of usage, and thus I suggest sticking with the faster connection.
