Kraken Splinter Fleet with Inverted Colour Scheme?

Hello Dakka,

I've scoured the lexicon and the google looking for pictures of tyanids painted in a reverse/inverted Kraken colour scheme. I'm sure this most have been done before? I'm curious if there is a official splinter fleet name/story for this colour scheme. If not I'll have to make my own.

Body: Blood Red (Reaper MSP)
Carapace: Yellowed Bone (Reaper MSP)
Teeth: Pure White (Reaper MSP) + Flesh Wash (GW)
Details: Screamer Pink (GW)

Dip: Army Painter Strong Tone

I'll post pics here when the armies done.

Anyways, I'm thinking to call it Hive Fleet Nekark if this scheme hasn't already been named.

Kraken Splinter Fleet with Inverted Colour Scheme?

I have seen colour schemes that are similar to that one. However Tyranids are not as consistent with the colours that are applied to them to determine what Hive fleet they are from. GW's Kraken scheme has changed a little as has Leviathan in the current codex.

There is lots of variation between red and bone as far as actually applying the colours is concerned. My own Tyranids are black and purple but if I were to use your colour scheme I would use a very dark crimson red that might border a bit on purple. My bone carapace would be near white.

My point is your bugs will stand out as your own simply by how you paint them. To add to the individuality of them make sure you give them good bases.

One thing I would like to say is that using pink for the details may not be a good idea. Pink and red clash, I suggest purple and or green. Things like Zoanthrope brains will look best in purple or green alongside the red, Pink will clash with the red and not look as good.

Kraken Splinter Fleet with Inverted Colour Scheme?

Thanks Leech for your reply.

I just painted the tervigon egg sack with a pink over red wash and the result was underwhelming.

I'm anxious to add something as bold as green. I'm thinking I'll pick up a Purple MSP or GW Glaze to wash over the egg sack/weapons/etc.

Kraken Splinter Fleet with Inverted Colour Scheme?

If the idea of a strong bright green sin't what you want you can try a cold green. Kabalite green and the various shades and highlight colours that work with it will give you a good result. Colder greens like that are neutral and work well with most colour schemes.
