2000pts Grey Knights Alpha Strike List

Hey everyone, I'm looking for advice on a 2000pt list for an upcoming tournament. I see a good bit of Tau, Necrons and armored Space Marine lists in my area.

(Revised)

HQ
Mordrak
Ghost Knights x4
Librarian
Teleport Homer
Warding Stave

Elite
Vindicare Assassin

Troops
Strike x10
Psycannon
Psycannon
Psybolt Ammo

Strike x10
Psycannon
Psycannon
Psybolt Ammo

Fast
Interceptor x10
Psycannon x2
Halbred (Justicar)
Daemon Hammer

Heavy
Dreadknight
Personal Teleporter
Heavy Incinerator
Greatsword

Dreadknight
Personal Teleporter
Heavy Incinerator
Greatsword

So basically for strategy I'm thinking that I would Deep Strike Modrak into the enemy lines on Turn 1 and Shunt both Dreadknights/Interceptors in as well to support Modrak and friends. I'd also infiltrate the vindicare in to take out heavy vehicles (I see a good bit of land raiders), and hopefully he would survive long enough to at least pop one with so many other threats in your face in turn one. Depending on the mission, I could combat the strike squads for more scoring units and/or deep strike them in to my Librarian's teleport homer. I can also use Modrak's Grand Strategy to add more scoring units if I find I need them.

(Revisions)

Took away some vehicles and added a Librarian with a Stave and Teleport homer. Plans to deep strike the strike squads on turn 2 to further increase aggressive presence on the enemy's half of the board.

Anyone have any advice for this list? Thanks!

Your Nemesis Greatsword point values are wrong, also, don't post specific point values.

That being said, you can't take henchmen without an Inquisitor. So cut them out, and the single Rhino (were they supposed to be 2?) and add a librarian with a Teleport Homer and deepstrike your strike squads T2. You can make at least other unit scoring with Mordrak's Grand Strategy SR. You could get up to 3 extra scoring units which would make your Dreadknights and Interceptors scoring too. Otherwise I like it. I'll be running something similar myself once I get more PAGK, almost all of mine are Purifiers.

Just watch out for Drakes.

I like it. It might not be THE MOST competitive, but should at least be a lot of fun.

Maybe if you can squeeze some AA in there somewhere it might be beneficial, but if you concentrate fire with stationary Psycannons, those should be able to take down a flier with relatively low difficulty.

Re:2000pts Grey Knights Alpha Strike List

I think there are a few problems you might encounter with your current setup but it will take a lot of opponents by surprise.

Overall you have little anti air and a likely easy kill point against for Slay the warlord. I think half your army is Alpha strike and the other half is sit back or arrive T2. That been the case, here are a couple of suggestions to consider:

HQ
1. Your warlord (either Mordak or Librarian), assuming your Libby is DS with Mordak T1 will likely die early as they will be in the enemies face and likely give up an easy 'Slay the warlord' point.
2. Your Libby doesn't actually add much to your Alpha strike as he cannot summon unitl T2 and all your other units can deep strike T2 anyway so why bother?
Suggestion: Drop him, save points and take Coteaz for your Warlord and backline defence. More on that later

Elite
Vindicare will die easily with the amount of ignore cover weaponry going around. His role is anti-tank and you can do that with your NDK's and interceptors on a T2 charge.
Suggestion: Drop him and use points elsewhere.

Troops
SS: Good but Pending your local meta I would consider swapping psybolt ammo for a warding stave on the Justicar to counter FMC/beatsticks that will destroy your unit.
Suggestion: Add a Henchman unit to go with Coteaz and behind an ADL with QG to give you much needed anti air/tank and anti deep strike defence from Drop pods/Doom /Zoans ect.

Fast
Interceptors: Good for your plan.
Suggestion: If there are lots of TAU and Necrons I would consider running 1 x Heavy Incin and 1 x PC instead. That way you can potentially combat squad, send the PC/Hammer team anti tank hunting and the Heavy Incin and Halberd anti infantry hunting.

Heavy
NDKs: Excellent but I think you have overinvested by buying too many upgrades.
Suggestion: Drop the Swords and use points elsewhere.

So after all my 'good idea fairy' stuff above what would I suggest you consider to improve:

HQ
Coteaz (Warlord)
Mordak + 4 x Knights (He is now an expendable unit to distract/cause havoc if ignored and no Slay the Warlord if he dies)

Fast
10 x Interceptors. Halberd on Jusitcar, 1 x PC, 1 x Heavy Incin, 1 x Hammer (Combat squad if you want, PC/Hammer team anti tank hunting and the Heavy Incin and Halberd anti infantry hunting)

Troops
10 x SS. 2 x PC and Warding Stave on the justicar (WS protects your squishy unit against FMC/Beatsticks but pending your meta could use Psybolt instead)
10 x SS. 2 x PC and Warding Stave on the justicar
Henchmen unit: 2 x Crusaders, 2 x Jokaeros, 3 x MM Servitors, 3 x Plas Gun Acolytes (Behind ADL with QG, Crusaders at the front to tank Heldrakes flames)

Heavy
NDK, PT & Heavy Incin
NDK, PT & Heavy Incin

Plan:
It shouldn't change too much from what you said you were going to do, it just tweaks what else you have.

Alpha Strike Force (ASF) is: Mordak and team, Interceptors and 2 x NDKs.
Backfield OBJ campers/anti air/tank/deep strike: Coteaz and Henchmen behind the ADL, 2 x SS as you see fit.

Your opponent then needs to decide on what to go after, if he goes after your ASF then your scoring troops and big guns are free to do as you wish and kill/position. If he goes after your scoring backline and ignores your ASF then they can cause massive damage. Basically you want to get First Blood and then your ASF units are expendable distractions so you can win on OBJ. The problem is if he takes enough firepower to deal with your ASF, which at 2k is a good chance.

Anyway some things to consider.

2000pts Grey Knights Alpha Strike List

Hi,

I think that if you want to do an Alpha Strike you have to ensure it has maximum efficiency.
here half your army only will be there. It will hurt of course but i tried this kind and against TAU for instance they managed in one turn to finish a DK, the interceptors and put 3 wounds on the DK.
Then almost your full Alpha strike is dead.

So i would go even further on the Alpha Strike capacity :
- Mordrak + 5 Knights
- Coteaz (for cheap scoring units)
- DK with teleporter and heavy incinerator
- DK with teleporter and heavy incinerator
- DK with teleporter and heavy incinerator
- 10 Interceptor with 2 psycanon
- 10 interceptor with 2 incinerator
- 3 acolytes in razorback with psyamo
- 3 acolytes in razorback with psyamo
- 3 acolytes in razorback with psyamo
- 7 acolytes

Uness you play annihilation, combat squad the interceptors, first turn you can then have 8 units in his deployment zone (3 DKs, 4 interceptors squads and Mordrak). Keep the rest in reserve, they will only be there to take objectives late game.

Thanks everyone for the input! Originally I had wanted to include another Dreadknight but that would have meant buying another one. But I guess to be competitive you gotta spend a little extra... I do worry about wave serpeants, but I haven't seen that much of Eldar here yet. The Denver meta is a little behind the curve it seems. I'll look into getting another Dread and see how that runs in the tournament!
