2500 point Gobbos Unite!!

Here is my escalation league army this Fall. I'm having a hoot playing them thus far. We are at the 1500 point mark now. This is what I am building toward. The part that I'm questioning is the level 3 Goblin Shaman. Otherwise all of these units, save the Monstrous Spider, have done well in play thus far. I know folks waver back and forth on Skarsnik, but the list is built around him, both fluff and strategy. Let me know what you think.

HQ: Skarsnik

Goblin Great Shaman level 3
Earthing Rod; Pidgeon Plucker

Night Goblin Shaman
level 2; dispel scroll

Night Goblin Shaman
level 2; channeling staff

Big boss; BSB
GW; Sh; Banner of Discipline

Big Boss
GW; Sh;

Big Boss
GW; Sh

Night Goblins x 48 (Skarsnik; Level 2 shaman; BSB)
hw; sh; FC; 3x Fanatics

Night Goblins x48 (Great Shaman; Big Boss)
Short Bows;FC; 3x Fanatics

Night Goblins x48 (Level 2 Shaman; Big boss, center battle line unit)
Spears; sh; FC; Netters; 3x Fanatics

5x spider riders
short bows; musician

5x spider riders
short bows; musician

Squig Herders x 13 squigs; 7x ng

Spear Chukka

Spear Chukka

Doom Diver

Mangler Squig

Mangler Squig

Arachnorok Spider
Flinger

Total: 2500

Thanks for any advice up front.
2500 point Gobbos Unite!!

To get the most out of skarsnik you want to have a few smaller units to take advantage of "Tricksy Traps" 20x night goblins with a musician and bows cost you 10pts less than the spider riders with bows. You lose out on the extra movement and terrain rules of the spiders but these smaller units make excellent fanatic delivery systems that are still able to flee from charges and regroup/shoot afterwards.

You also may want to rethink the 48 strong bow block of goblins, without a spider banner it is unlikely they will do much with their shots. the range on their short bows mixed with the depth of the unit will make it hard for you to actually use those shots on much other than stand and shoot.

Dropping both spider rider units and the spear chukkas would give you enough points to add 3x20 ngoblin bow units with musician. I'd recommend taking a fanatic out of each big block and putting 1 in each of these small blocks to give you that fanatic threat. These smaller units are also a good buffer for taking out opponents chaff before they can pop your big units fanatics.

I've never played with an Arachnorok so can't talk much about it, but I think you may need something with a bit more punch when using an all goblin list.

http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=110573 This thread has a lot of helpful info on skarsnik if you are interested in using him He is very fun to play with.

~xalfej

2500 point Gobbos Unite!!

Skarsnik is awesome; exactly what a Special Character should be in my mind. But without any magical protection, you probably don't want to make him a more tempting target than he already is: I'd split up those characters into more than one unit. Especially the BSB.

With the Little Waaagh!, I've found that four lvl1's is often all I really need. I usually pack them with a Dispel Scroll, Feedback Scroll, Hex Scroll, and a Channeling Staff for plenty of tricks and potential synergy with Sneaky Stealin'.

I like units of Night Gobbos with bows; the shields don't really add much to their durability, honestly, while the bows add a lot to their versatility. But Nets are a must for larger units, too, I'd say.

If the Arachnarok hasn't done well for you, I'd drop all the Spiders and go for a more Night Goblin-themed list. More Squigs and some trolls, mainly. Maybe a Wolf Chariot/Pump Wagon or two.
Otherwise, I'd at least suggest dropping the Flinger.

With your Manglers and Fanatics, I'd say the Doomdiver is doing less for you than a Rock Lobber would. Of course, I'd prefer both.

How have those Big Bosses been working for you? And why do they have great weapons and shields?
