Deathwing List Help

Hello Dakka,

Has anyone had success with Deathwing - only armies? I'd like to try it but I've seen people on the inter webs have had some misery with them.

Any ideas or advice?

Deathwing are not competitive. As long as you understand this when you play them, and enjoy the army non the less, then you should have a good time. Whilst certain things can make a DW list 'more' competitive, it will rarely ever be up to the standards of things like mechdar and other 6th edition power lists.

With this being said DW are certainly a fun to field as a fluffy elite underdog army in more casual games.

For 1k points games I run something like this:

Belial
Deathwing command squad x 5 - Plasma Cannon, Standard of Fortitude.

Deathwing Squad x5 - CML
Deathwing Squad x5 - CML

This is a list that I would call 'competitive Deathwing' at 1k points. There isn't much you can chang, as 700points of your army is auto included in HQ and 2 troops. Taking the SoF helps keep your expensive troops alive for longer.

At higher point games you can run a 10 man with 2 autocannons and 2 chanfist with a libby using a PFG when you deepstrike you can target 2 vechiles rear armour and still benefit from a 2+/4+ then break off as you go. Also being twin linked really does help.
