help On lugganath eldar

Hi! It's been about 12 years since I've done anything hobby related. I used to play 40k ultramarines. Entering back into it I decided eldar eldar eldar.I see everyone has painted the prime crafworlds. But I got a serious love for Lugganath. The colour and the fluff.

But no ones really painted them. I got a list of paints I think my work. But I'd rather ask experts before I commit

For the Orange I was looking at

Citadel celestra grey base
Nuln oil wash
Troll slayer orange
And dry brushing with lugganath Orange

For the black
Abaddon black base
Nuln oil wash
Dawnstone layer
Drybrush longhand grey

Still making my mind up on the gems

And any tips on making wrairhbones dark n worn would be great

Cheers

Re:help On lugganath eldar

I had a looooong look at that and i was very impressed. Personally i found it quite muted colour wise. It lacked the eldar "OMG ITS SO BRIGHT IT HURTS MY EYES OMG WHY ARE MY EYES BLEEDING" effect that eldar are known for. it seemed soft almost apricot in colour and from the initial idea in my head and from research the armor is bright. Lugganath is Light Of the Fallen Suns. thier colours are Fiery orange with black helmets and yellow faceplates .

I really want the bold bite your head off colours and techniques to guide me to the ugly beauty that is eldar

Wow Finnan that is exactly the level of eye melting I wanted! It's so bright and bold. Was it tough to bring out the details without effecting the colour? And most important what colours did you use to achieve it

help On lugganath eldar

Not tricky, but it takes a while... I start with a Blazing Orange basecoat, and then just layer up thin layers of Golden Yellow for the highlight - if you want a stronger orange, you'd probably want to do less yellow.

help On lugganath eldar

thanks finnan ill have to get some practice in cos its almost exactly the orange i wanted

Shespits. I can only really go on how i perceive it but applying a wash before base colour goes on will help keep depth in the model as the layers are building up. Im no professional since im coming back after so long of not painting i think calling myself amateur is putting it nicely. its why im asking lol i would prefer to use someone elses knowledge and get it right the first time rather then wasting a lot of money (warham is damn expensive here in aus compared to the rest of the world)

if you have better advice im open to hear it
