2k Eldar & Dark Eldar List

Suggestions welcome, most of this army is made up of models I already own and the rest I will need to buy.

Looks fairly solid though...

Anyone have any suggestions for improvements?

I already own Drazhar, Jain Zar, Rangers, Kabalite Warriors, Wyches and the Reaver Jetbikes. As this is a 2nd army and specifically 2000 points I need to keep these units in the army as I cannot afford to plow loads of cash in on Extra's.

Army has a bit of everything, long range anti infantry and anti tank weapons, close combat troops and some half decent objective campers.

One thing I was thinking of changing was to drop 5 of the Rangers and take some Guardian Jetbikes to fly around with the Reavers, that way I can add a heavy weapon into the "squad" to take out anything armored in the back field.

As I am a Tyranid player this gun type shooting thing isn't really my thing so I need some assistance.

Drazhar will be joining the Incubi and Embarking with them in the Raider and Jain Zar will be in the Wave Serpent with the Banshee's. I am actually quite glad I have these 2 models as they both have Eternal Warrior and losing HQ's to high strength weapons drives me insane!

This is bang on 2,000 points so there isn't much leeway for modification.

Thanks in advance!

Eldar (Primary)

1x Jain Zar
9x Howling Banshees with an Exarch, in a Wave Serpent
5x Rangers
5x Rangers
2x Fire Prism
1x Nightspinner

Dark Eldar (Allies)

1x Drazhar
10x Kabalite Warriors with a Splinter Cannon
10x Wyches with a Hekatrix, in a Raider
9x Incubi with a Raider
6x Reaver Jetbikes with 2 Blasters
1x Razorwing Jetfighter

2k Eldar & Dark Eldar List

Well, right now your a brave soul. Banshees are the worst unit in the codex, and even with Jain Zar probably going to die easily... Incubi are better but expensive, and likely to die.

However, respect for the theme. I would give the exarch an excutioner for more AP2. The serpent needs dual scatter lasers and holo fields. Consider dropping the rangers for jetbikes.

If you want drazhar and incubi, get their raider aethersails so it can make it. Maybe night shields too.

Kabbie raiders need night shields and splinter racks. Wytches are pretty meh and best used as cheap AT. 5 in a venom with haywire grenades should do it. The reavers are decent, and the jetfighter needs a flickerfield.

With decent mech saturation you may be okay, but your scoring units are paper thin. Two assault deathstars is probably overkill unless you see a unit worth fighting. Banshees will likely lose to most units, but incubi have a chance.

2k Eldar & Dark Eldar List

They are fast, which is really the only thing they are good at. The reason they are so bad is because with only strength 3 their power weapons rarely wound stuff to even get the AP 3. And with toughness 3 to boot they're like paper. Better to just leave them home if you have other things to take instead.

Shingen wrote:
I was thinking of joining jain zar to the wiches but then I lose the raider so thats why the Banshees are there.

Why are they so bad?

Crossfire eluded to this but I'll elaborate a little deeper, 2 out 3 armies playied will be an army with toughness 4 (CSM, SM, Necron, DA, BA, Ork) and most of them will have access to 2+ armor. Banshees being only toughness 3 will need to wound on a 5+ thus neutralizing the effectiveness of AP 3 power swords. Prescience and Doom can help however what are the chances of getting Doom every game, very low. The rest of the armies you will face will end up being toughness 3 however they are mostly gunlines and since Eldar lack an assault transport they tend to get ripped to shreds (ie. toughnes 3 and only a 4+ save). Few armies you face will present a optimal situation for Banshees to shine and most of those are going to be newbies and casual players.
