200 Point IG Killteam

This army list is for a Killteam competition in a few months; I have never done Killteam , so I have very little idea of what sort of tactics to play. So all advice would be appreciated.

Killteam Force (200pts)
200pt Imperial Guard 5th Ed by TC Roster (Primary Detachment)
Imperial Guard 5th Ed by TC (Primary Detachment) Selections:
HQ (50pts)
Company Command Squad (50pts)
4x Lasgun
Company Commander
Close Combat Weapon, Laspistol
Elites (65pts)
Guardsman Marbo (65pts)
Troops (85pts)
Veteran Squad (85pts)
6x Shotgun, 3x Sniper Rifle (15pts)
Veteran Sergeant
Close Combat Weapon, Laspistol

I am aware that there is only one troop: but as far as I know, that is allowed in Killteam (correct me if I am wrong, though!). I am also considering using my SW for Killteam, if you think SW is a better option : so, for ease of use, I have attached a poll!

Ok, first of all you need to check the local rules for killteam in your LGS, as there are differences from place to place.
For example in some places there are restrictions on what vehicles are allowed, or special characters like marbo will be disallowed. (This is a good thing, as it stops some OP cheese like Doom of Malatai from wiping most of your army in one go.

Ok with this said some things to bear in mind:
There is no compulsory unit, the only rules are no HQ or heavy support. (Edit: actually you are allowed 1 elite, 2 troop, 1 fast attack, but most of the time you will struggle to fill more than 2 of these options.)
Flamers are great if they charge that guy, as the auto d3 hits will hurt, however outside of this flamers are less useful as there is no reason to bunch up.
Try to pick a choice that covers most bases, you'll need some anti horde, arrmour and possibly some high ap attacks for meq/teq.
A tough model to be your leader is nice to have.

I've been playing a fair amount of kill team recently, I gave my friend this list to use:

Elite
Lone wolf - Terminator armour, Power axe (Warlord) - 45pts

Troops
Grey Hunters x10, 1 meltagun, 1 plasma gun - 155pts

This list is pretty solid imo. You have 2 special weapons (Plasma gun is free which is nice), and a hard as nails warlord

For Imperial guard, I've actually been planning something that looks a little bit more like this:

Troops
Veteran squad - 3x plasma gun, 1x lascannon,
-Chimera - Heavy stubber

having 3 heavy weapons and 3 special weapons in one list, as well as a heavy stubber and 6 guys with lasguns should be able to deal with ost things the opponent throws at you.

Re:200 Point IG Killteam

Yeah the heavy stubber is a pintle weapon. The chimera has the standard loadout of multi laser, heavy bolter as well.
Are heavy flamers on vehicles which are not fast or walkers normally worth their points anyway? In kill teams I'd certainly say no. Enemy units can spread out as much as they want.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Your Force
To play in a Kill Team event, you’ll need to select your Kill Team
carefully, for, as any commander knows, you must send the right men for
the mission if you want to guarantee success! You may spend up to 200
points using the following Force Organisation Chart:
0 – 1 Elite
0 – 2 Troops
0 – 1 Fast Attack
• You may use any current and in print Warhammer 40,000 Codex book, as well as any current and official updates
in White Dwarf, eg. Codex: Sisters of Battle and the Chaos Daemons update.
• Rules from Forge World’s productions are not in use at Kill Team. However, you may use the models where they
appropriately represent a Codex entry (eg. Contemptor Dreadnought as a Dreadnought, of Death Korps of Krieg as
Imperial Guardsmen).
• Rules and unit entries from other Warhammer 40,000 expansions, eg Apocalypse, Planetstrike, Cities of Death and
Spearhead are not in use.
• You may not take allies or fortifications.
• Codex restrictions are still in place. If your codex says you must take 1+ of a unit (eg Tau Fire Warriors) then you
must still take 1+ units of them. The only exception to this is if your codex requires you to take 1+ HQ unit or 1+
Heavy Support units.
• You must purchase complete squads. You cannot take, for example, a single Tactical Space Marine or a single Eldar
Harlequin. Imperial Guard must fulfil the minimum requirements of an Infantry platoon, and may not take single
squads from it.
• As no units may be kept in reserve , you may not take any Flyers.

Nothing about 2+ saves in there. Unless they have updated it, this is the list I have from the gw website.

Re:200 Point IG Killteam

Why do you like flamers so much? They have their uses in a normal game of 40k, but in kill teams there are no unit cohesion rules so there will be few chances to hit more than 1 or 2 models a shot.
Flamers are bad on almost all vehicles. If you are in range to shoot them, then they are in melta/ assault range next turn. Land raider redeemers have this issue, and they have 14AV, I wouldn't want my chimera getting into that situation.
Remember that in kill teams your models' shot can be divided amongst as many targets as you like, so a HB will not have to fire all 3 shots on 1 model.

As for using the vehicle, just take care its ok. Some places might say vehicles with no more than 34 armour total, which allows for dreads and chimeras, other places might limit it to no more than 10 or 11 on one facing, or even no vehicles at all.

Re:200 Point IG Killteam

The SW list is good. I think it's probably the better one for your first killteams game.
If you are playing a series of games then your Lonewolf has the potential to become even better with the warlord rewards at the end of the game, and as he has a storm bolter and power axe he should be able to get a few kills fairly reasonably.

The last thing left you need to do is decide specialist skills.

Having tank hunter on the plasma or melta is nice, also prefered enemy everything is good for you lone wolf, but ultimately these are up to you.
