				<description><![CDATA[ 1x ethereal <br /> Add 2x gun drones <br /> 1x cadre fire blade <br /> Add 2x gun drones <br /> 10x fire warriors with pulse rifles <br /> Add shas'ui with 2 gun drones <br /> Add devilfish with 2 gun drones <br /> <br /> Total points = 386<br /> <br /> For this you get<br /> <br /> ¤11 pulse rifle shots at 30",<br /> ¤16 twin linked pulse carbine shots at 18"<br /> ¤56 shots at 15" (rapid fire on the rifles, regular number of shots on the carbines). You end up getting 40 shots from the rifles due to the fire blade giving an extra shot, and another extra shot by using the ethereals storm ability. <br /> ¤72 shots when down to 9" range (half range of carbines)<br /> <br />  <br /> To be even nastier you could give the ethereal or fire blade an xv8 body guard which has the command and control node AND the multi spectrum sensor suite AND a couple of guns drones, arming him with pulse rifles and a pulse accelerator. This increases your pulse weapon range by 6" (making rapid fire shots possible sooner) that ignores cover with rerolls on failed to hit rolls. <br /> <br /> Adding a bodyguard would mean dropping the devilfish however, as he can't ride alongside, though as it'll save 80 points perhaps is this is just a good thing.<br /> <br /> I realise that it's not a survivable unit, and is incredibly expensive, though could someone just check that my maths is right please?<br /> <br /> Draw backs:<br /> <br /> 1) they have to remain stationary to get all those shots<br /> 2) cost<br /> 3) low model count]]></description>

Scoring. Stubborn*. LD10 12" Bubble. Cheaper, more bodies/wounds & over two squads. Better firepower all told. Add in EMP grenades (I'm not sold on) and it can realibly take out nearly any unit in the game (that doesn't have a 2++ re-rollable save!)... edit: Okay not quite but its still substantial firepower for a very reasonable price. <br /> <br /> Its just delicious. ]]></description>

They say they fire an additional (6) shot(s), not fire again<br /> <br /> If you have 18 Pulse Rifles and you fire them at 30", you have 18 + 18*6 due to Volley Fire.<br /> If you have 14 Pulse Carbines, you have 14*2 + 14*6 = 112.<br /> If you have 18 Pulse Rifles in rapid fire range, 18*2 + 18*6 = 144.<br /> <br /> 30": Pulse Rifle - 126<br /> 18": Pulse Rifle - 126, Pulse Carbine - 112, Total: 238<br /> 15": Pulse Rifle - 144, Pulse Carbine - 112, Total: 256<br /> <br /> A few more shots at max range, and a lot less shot at close range. However, throwing 256 dice in shooting will make even a Screamstar pause.]]></description>

I would recommend using a Skyshield to give them a 4++ save. However, this isn't competitive, they would be something you field to be silly or in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(7);'>apoc</span> to either draw fire, or remove a unit/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(93);'>MC</span> a turn.]]></description>

Skyshields also cause charging issues, if you arent a jump/jet/skimmer its hard to get up there and charge the same turn. Against pathfinders it would suck, the rest of our army's armor is equal or better than the cover we are in anyway.]]></description>

I just borrowed his dex to see what stuff I could find and come up with to counter my Dads Ork Battlewagon / Ghazzkull list.<br /> <br /> However, this particular Tau player is fond of being rooted to the spot and letting others come to him, as a result I've yet to beat him since <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(50);'>GW</span> released their 6th ed book.  <br /> <br /> Whilst the Fire Blade's rule restricts movement, the addition of an Ethereal allows for an extra shot at all times, regardless of movement.  Unfortunately these don't stack, though do go some way to adding more Dakka to a unit.
